I'd be there in a heartbeat. I'd also like to see a 3 day carbine/pistol.

I will gladly sign up for a Battle rifle class. Anyone have a battle rifle I can borrow? I guess that I can borrow a garand from one of my buddies.:D

VERY interested! :)

I'd be most interested in a 2008 class, I'm pretty busy this year.

Yeah man I would love to attend a training class. It would be my first so not sure if i would qualify if there are pre req's for attending. And I assume an AR would be a suitable battle rifle right?

Only if it is an AR-10 pattern. "Battle rifle" implies 7.62mm NATO or equivalent.

Cool...

Now all we need is to take up a collection for the "Help JW afford a battle rifle so he can take this class" fund.

....Of course I could always show up with my Garand......

Shoot, the gun is the easy part. I'll need to donate a kidney to get some ammo!

The term "battle rifle" usually means a semi-auto rifle of .30 caliber/7.62x51mm and up.

Pea-shooters....err....um......AR15's need not apply.

Think FAL, M14/M1A, etc.

If I had a .308 I'd be in. Anyone want to give me a M1A??

I would probably be in for a 3 day pistol/carbine later this year though.

I'd love to shoot my M1 Garand for a class like this but ammo and 'clips' would likely cost me $1K.

Give? No. Loan? Sure.

Actually, I think a .30-06 Garand might be cheaper to run than a .308 rifle.

No doubt. The Greek HXP from CMP is good stuff.

I see a lot of guys are in the same boat as me. They want to take the battle rifle class but don't have a rifle for it. I see some mad as hell "Better Halfs" in our futures and it don't take a crystal ball to see it.

You AR guys need to learn how to diversify........:D

I want to shoot my 1945 SA (CMP) M1 Garand. I think I'd be shooting 2-3 times as much handgun as people shooting mag fed 7.62x51 rifles would. Since the rifle would at most would ever have 8 rounds in it.

Boom...Boom...Boom...Boom...Boom...Boom...Boom...Boom, PING! :D

That's gonna be a lot of transitioning to secondary. To keep in the spirit I'd shoot a 1911. Yeah the CMP price on the LC and Greek .30-06 isn't too bad.

I would be willing to bring and loan out whatever I could. As of now I'm assuming that I would be shooting my DSA SA 58 "carbine" which means that I could loan out an M1A SOCOM16, a standard M1A and an M1 Garand.

Gents - how about we reduce the ammo needed to 600 rds of rifle ammo for this class - 300 rds a day of 7.62/30-06 is enough for anyone regardless of cost

I will see if I can drag up some exotic/rare 7.62 weapon for the class to check out

I wish I could go back in time and kick my past self for not buying more of that awesome Danish M1 Garand ammo that some distributors had. I bought a couple of crates and the ammo is so good I am afraid to shoot it.

Live and learn.

The CMP greek ammo price is quite good.

That leaves one question....can we actually run a Garand in this class?

FYI - The rifle ammo requirements for the Battle Rifle class have changed to 600 rounds as per LAV. He feels this is more than enough rounds and makes it easier on everybody.

I'm for it. As far past the 1911 class as possible.

No idea how the AR-10 will do in a structured environment, but we'll give it a go. :D

I would pass out trying to move my AR-10 for that long. Hmm, maybe this is the time to buy the M1a tanker off of my neighbor. So much fun stuff, so little money.

Depending on dates, I'm in for the battle rifle.

I'd really like to take it with a Garand but don't have one anymore. If anyone knows of any decent deals on a nice Garand, please post up. If not, my 14 will have to do.

I just want one M1 Garand. CMP is out again.

Can I use my Enfield? It is a battle rifle and I have ammo for it :D
