View Full Version : How to destroy a Bushmaster$$$ (update)
Here are some pics of the carnage from me proving that 'permanently attached' flash supressors only deter children:

So after a brief (2 minutes) period of grieving, I ordered a Colt SS 24" HBAR Elite accurized barrel and had it sent off to ADCO to have the feed ramps ground to match the upper. I also ordered the 15" SS Free Float rail from Midwest Ind, and attached a Harris 'pod on it. The Millet TRS scope should be here this week before I go to Vegas :D

The Millet is a 4-16X50 mildot illuminated.
next to come will be an A2 stock conversion, fixed scope mount and a grip with a shelf on it... Its funny how curiosity can cause you to find an excuse to spend money on building a tack driver.

I would send that Bushmaster barrel to ADCO and have it chopped.
Hell, I'll give you 20.00 for it. i can chop it and make a pistol barrel.
You can keep the flash hider !!!
You couldve either saved yourself money or ended up with a spare barrel at the very least had you done a bit of research on how to take it off.

I'm seeing it transform into an SBR project.

sooo uhh, nice rail and all but what's that yosh system attached to? ;)
I was wondering that myself.
On a serious note I'm not familiar with Millett scopes. How do they compare against other brands, or what are they comparable to?

Had to immediately look those optics up myself. Here's a little review:

Appears to be a low-middle to mid-grade optic with a decent feature set

That Yosh was put on a buddy's '06 GSXR600 I was fixin up... but he sold it for $3k :(. I already have an '08 Kawi Mean streak 1600 that fills up my need for a bike so I didn't but it.

+1
I was about to post that link too. It should be in this week, I'll post some pics and my review on it next week. I just need to order some scope rings to mount it.

I was seriously considering the Leupold Mark AR scope thats bullet compensated for a 55gr... But I decided on the Millet because it included the sun tube and flip up covers. And the objective is a 50mm not 40. This build is going to be camo painted as soon as its completed and I would feel bad rattle canning something as sacred as a Leupold too. Its just blasphemy.

Interesting. Thanks for posting the link.
Curious as how you managed to get it off...
I used a Dremel cutting wheel on one to split it, then pry it apart. You still end up with a hole in the threads where the blind pin was, I had my barrel cut back to exactly 16" and re-threaded.
You know, I've got a DPMS LR AP4 sitting in the safe with no optic and this just looked too good to pass up. I've got a Nightforce NXS sitting on my Rem 700 LTR and a Leupold Mark 4 LR/T on my .50. Wasn't wanting to lay out that sort of money for a couple more months but at this price I just couldn't say no.
We'll see how it is.

3/4" wrench, bench vise, bicycle innertube, vise grips, 4' cheater bar, sheer determination, brute force and poor judgement. Thats how you get anything apart.

Did you order a millet TRS too?

Yep. On the way from Midway USA already.

How much did that run you?

$339 plus shipping. Course I also added a Larue SPR-S mount for $195. :D

I got mine for $303 @ www.opticsplanet.com with free shipping. I went ahead and went with a cheapo Leapers mount for $14 http://www.opticsplanet.net/leapers-accushot-weaver-style-30mm-full-size-integral-medium-profile-see-thru-mount-f.html. I went with a fixed mount because I think a Q/D is kinda silly on a tack driver. If your scope somehow fails, I think a pistol would suffice for backup if your target is within range. If your target is still out of range you can probably wing it with a broken scope.

its cheap I know, but its made in the USA and it was only $14. If I don't like it, oh well.

Admittedly, none of my rifles and optics really need rezeroable quick disconnect mounts. But, unfortunately I have tasted the Larue Kool-Aid and it is gooo-ood. I've tried going back to non-QD mounts but just keep coming back to Larue.
