View Full Version : SEIU Mob outside your house and the police are afraid to intervene, what do you do?

FromMyColdDeadHand

I can't believe the non-news story about the SEUI surrounding the bank officials house and the police refusing to remove them from private property. The police are afraid of provoking the mob? What kind decent into madness are we going into if you can't control a mob in a middle class suburb? What is the tie between the local cops union and the SEIU? Would this had even made the news if Nena Easton from FoxNews wasn't a neigbor.

What do you do when the mob comes for you and the police stand by? I'll tell the cops they have 15 minutes to straighten it out or else I'm going out side and clear my property.

What do you think would happen if Tea Party people started descending on peoples houses? Would the press make it a non-story? Would the cops take a pass?

First hand account of police intimidation.

Third paragraph of Nina's subtext.

Now this event would accurately be called a "protest" if it were taking place at, say, a bank or the U.S. Capitol. But when hundreds of loud and angry strangers are descending on your family, your children, and your home, a more apt description of this assemblage would be "mob." Intimidation was the whole point of this exercise, and it worked-even on the police. A trio of officers who belatedly answered our calls confessed a fear that arrests might "incite" these trespassers.

The next time the Po-po gets in my face maybe I'll just tell them to chill and not to incite me. Yea, that will work.

Yeah but who plans for a crowd like this showing up on your lawn and not really presenting much of a threat but just trespassing and doing minor property damage?

Sounds like a nightmare.

If you were prepared for it it could be real entertaining I suppose, but probably ends up with them doing even more damage to your property while the cops look on:

500 people on my front lawn? I don't have that many pair of handcuffs but I've got lots of rope and extension cords. I'd go out there and video myself telling them to leave and when they didn't I'd start making arrests. And if any of them resisted....... shame on them. This kind of shit really boils my blood. 500 people on your lawn are going to mess stuff up as well and then they aren't going to be expected to pay for it either. Not at my house.

I've dealt with SEIU thugs up close and personal. Last August I went to a town hall meeting held by one of our US Representatives (Dem) discussing the healthcare debate. Outside the auditorium were two buses, one with the Obama "Organizing for America" wording and logo, and the other bus was unmarked. While we were waiting in line, purple shirted SEIU organizers were working the crowd trying to gather info on who was attending, where did they live (if they were in the District), etc.

Most folks got irritated and told these "organizers" to beat it. When they got to me I just ignored them and continued my conversation with the person next to me. We found out that the SEIU organizers were from out of State, bused in for the town hall.

I have never seen anything like that before, and when do we have organized labor goons screening attendees for a political event? Is this what they call: "The New Norm"?

Who is prepared for a large crowd showing up at your door? Probably more M4C guys than you'd think. The disaster preparedness forum has got me thinking about things besides guns and water. Having some smoke for marking, cover or diversion makes some sense. Throw in a flash bang and I think most SEUI guys are going to head for the buses.

Here's a tip.

Maritime rescue smoke (orange) is usually about 1/4 the price of a smoke grenade and pretty much the same thing. Instead of a pin and a spoon, you pull two strings with rings.

Nearly identical smoke output, concentration and consistency with the bonus of not looking like one of those "survival nuts." When you can buy four for the price of one, you can quickly stockpile enough to smoke out your entire block a few times and then some.

ETA: Looking at that groups other videos I found one titled "This Is What Democracy Looks Like." At first I thought it was outrageous, but I realized that they're correct. Democracy IS mob rule. I'm reminded of the quote "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to eat for lunch. Liberty is an armed lamb contesting the vote."

One thing that occurred to me about the CS and smoke grenade idea is that many of them are exothermic and I don't know if they would get hot enough to start the house on fire if thrown back.

Not really because all it is is a group of unarmed people trespassing while "peacefully protesting" outside your house, and, as others pointed out, probably taking place in a jurisdiction where some kind of duty to retreat before using force exists. To make things worse the cops are standing nearby allowing it to happen while at the same time providing the illusion of safety so that whatever you do looks less reasonable than it really is.

It isn't a situation where they are clearly there to hurt people directly or indirectly by stealing supplies you need to live.

So this happened once, this could be something we could start seeing more. Granted not in an area where everyone has a gun, but when does an incident like this get bloody. I would drop a prick if I felt threatened, but doing this you probably made a martyr for the SEIU or whatever groups cause. Where are we really headed, and when will cooler heads not prevail.

MIKE G

Most of the actual "burning" grenades (there area few non-incendiary types for special use) will be hot enough that if someone grabs it without gloves they will lose some skin, that doesnt mean I would not be concerned about it being thrown back. I would simply recommend having some gloves on if you are getting into a game of hot potato.

The other option, depending on your locale of course, is an OC fire extinguisher type delivery device. Although they are more expensive than a handful of grenades, they can not be thrown back.

I would recommend having a mask though to stay functional throughout application from either of these methods

Can't remember if I read about the use of smoke there, but I started to think about movement, dealing with crowds and operating in the urban environment and came to the realization that smoke could come in handy.

Ideas about throwing out tear gas and smoke grenades sound fun, but if you're living in a place so messed up that the cops refuse to take action against a mob on your front porch, you can rest assured that you will be well and truly screwed if you use any level of force or do anything that could possibly be construed as an assault.

Stuff like this is why the founders never wanted a democracy.

I'm also forced to wonder how the authorities would react if a similar mob formed on a sex offender's property. Somehow I think it would get a very different...and more proactive...reaction.

This is all location dependent, of course. At my current location, the cops would probably either A) already be at my house hanging out when the mob arrived or B) sitting at the end of the street giggling waiting to see what I'd do next.

If I still lived in the PRNJ, I'd pick up my BOB and go-box with irreplaceable papers and leave, and let them burn the place down. Any other course of action would result in ME going to jail.

Perhaps in your state, FL gives you a lot more discretion.

Any one planning on using any type of "smoke grenade" in a city needs to check the laws, in most cases it can be considered an incendiary device and that's a felony in most states.

Would suck to lose your rights and a shit load of money over popping some smoke.

Another bonus for the maritime rescue smokes. They don't get hot so I don't think they qualify.

A friend sent me an e-mail the other day that included this helpful bit:

WASP SPRAY

A friend who is a receptionist in a church in a high risk area was concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to rob them when they were counting the collection. She asked the local police department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that she get a can of wasp spray instead.

The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a lot more accurate, while with the pepper spray, they have to get too close to you and could overpower you. The wasp spray temporarily blinds an attacker until they get to the hospital for an antidote. She keeps a can on her desk in the office and it doesn't attract attention from people like a can of pepper spray would. She also keeps one nearby at home for home protection...
Thought this was interesting and might be of use.

It's also got the advantage of being "non tactical" household item, so a prosecutor would have a more difficult time painting you as some kind of "right wing militia gun nut" spoiling for a fight. Nest full of wasps ~ bus full of SEIU thugs, the only difference I can see is that the wasps actually fill a needed niche in the natural order.

One of the reasons pepper spray is considered a low level of force is it doesn't permanently harm the person sprayed.

Can you say the same about wasp spray? I have no idea what is in wasp spray and what it will do to eyes. Be careful of these kinds of chain emails.

Actions do have consequences.

At least this banker, like most bankers, still has his home, unlike many who lost their homes to the bankers. When people make bad choices they lose money/homes. When bankers make bad choices, they get government money. Privatize the profits; socialize the losses.

If this was in DC, then the scene was probably more like something out of Zulu.:D

It's tough to know who to cheer for here. Maybe the cops.

I have no sympathy for people who get in over their head and also feel the banks should not be bailed out either !!!

but to say bankers took peoples homes ? you mean people got greedy and wanted more and bigger and signed knowing they were getting in over their head and they lost !!!!

Reality is, you wouldnt be able to do anything other than suck it up.

I wonder maybe where it was each state might be dif though ? if the police said you are on your own and wont protect you its hard to say if you had to take action what would happen in the long run ? but lots of issues along the way

sadly the police should have handled it if they can handle riots they could have handled this one !

THEY HAD POLICE ESCORT!

WTF! You have to be kidding me? What are you going to do when a mob shows up on your front yard AND THEY HAVE POLICE ESCORT! No power to stop the protestors, but how much you want to bet they'll step in to defend the protestors. This stinks to high heaven.

Can some of our LEO friends give the next DC Metro cop they see a bitch slap? Law to lawlessness enforcer. If you want to get into the enforcer business, work for the mob.

Sucks to be a BOA guy. BOA corporate guys, the real big wigs, don't live on public streets, and how much personal protection detail do they have. This will happen to mid-management to sub C-level guys, and BOA will tell them that they should just grin and bear it- BOA doesn't want the bad press of someone defending their property and lives.

I sent a note to the Huffington Post "reporter" who also works at SEIU:

Subject: In the spirit of Edward R Murrow?

Or carrying over your day job at SEIU to "reporting?"

Hypocrite. Thanks for doing your bit to make this country more like Greece, run into the ground by your union masters.

I don't have the words to convey my contempt for you, you cowardly little intellectual pauper. You're not a reporter, you're a propagandist.

Which cops would those be? The DC Metro JBTs who escorted 500 people to a private home to protest on private property while a 14 year old child was terrified inside the house or the Maryland police who stood idly by while 500 people surrounded a private home to protest or private property while a 14 year old child was terrified inside the house for fear of "inciting" a riot if any action was taken?

Sorry, if you want to protest a bank, then protest at the bank. That lawyer didn't personally kick these people out of their houses.

I can pretty safely say that this would not happen in Kentucky and and I know I would act differently than the cops that were there.

Personally, if 500 people are surrounding my house, on my porch, I am in fear for my own life as well as anyone else in the house.

Also, Kentucky law allows the use of deadly force to prevent arson. I'm pretty sure I saw someone in the crowd light a fire. Maybe it was just a cigarette, but I thought different. Just sayin.

This part of Missouri, too. MO law also allows use of deadly force to prevent arson. If just one of those SEIU a-holes lit a match or...

...since fireworks are legal in MO, say a homeowner felt like setting off a couple smoke bombs on his property and some trespasser picked one of said smoke bombs up and threw it at (or on) the homeowner's residence. There may be a justification for prevention of attempted arson at that point.

Would love to call for an air or artillery strike "danger close" but since that`s not an option, I personally would like to think I`d answer the door with a cup of coffee in my hand and my AR-15 with a single point sling attachment over my chest and one of my 1911A1`s on my hip. May the good lord help them after that because I`m a real bear when my coffee is interupted.:D

Those officers and departments need investigated. At the very least they could've called for back up from the fire department and sprayed the mob with a hose :D

I keep hearing comments like these from a lot of folks. I hope none of you guys posting this stuff ever gets into a shooting. Wether its a good shoot or a bad shoot either way the prosecuting attorney will dig this stuff up therefore making you look like a triger happy hick in front of a jury.

This is not a bash, just a friendly advice, I hate to see good people get the shaft and the bad guys walk away, all on technicalities like these.

I know what I would do, but its no going to be stated here

I know for a fact that most major departments have a special responce unit and training, just dedicated to crowd control. Theres more to this story than we are probably being told.

I wonder who ordered the officers to escort them ! and who gave those orders to those ? Police as I understand wont just do this on their own they are told to do things like this ! someone needs to get to the bottom of this
