....1,000 rounds of 55gr .223 Federal ammunition. Now that's accessorizing!

I should probably invest in some more Pmags too.

I bought Walmart specials - Federal 55gr. .223 FMJ at $38 per box of 100 rounds. I've been pleased with this and Fiocci's 55gr .223 - both provide pretty consistent performance and accuracy shooting out to 200 yards. There are probably better deals on the net but shipping for a 1,000 rounds plus FFL fee brings the prices close enough to make buying local worth while.

Wolf is definitely a much better deal but it's dirty and performance is inconsistent. It's not much fun punching paper with Wolf IMO. It does make for good cheap plinking ammo.

I also purchased another 6 Pmag's today - something I figure one cannot have too many of.

I keep thinking about picking up a .22 conversion kit for my AR but every time I have the coin I decide I'd rather use it for .223 ammo. I have a 10/22 (well, my 14 year old son has a 10/22 but he's kind enough to share - especially considering I share the AR with him :) ) that's plenty fun to shoot so I've no pressing need to spend the money on a conversion kit.

At this point I'm trying to purchase more ammo than I intend to shoot every time I buy (at a 1:1 ratio if I can afford to) so that I can begin stockpiling.

Buying deals locally is always nice because you get to use it right away. You don't have to deal with any backorders or waiting for the shipment to arrive.

WTF.... I've never bought Ammo online but have never heard there was an FFL fee.....
You have to ship to an FFL!?

You can buy ammo online and they ship it right to your front door. I haven't had any issues at all with the 2000 rounds or so I have ordered. :D

In Cali you do, ammo can only be transferred at a dealer and you have to submit a thumbprint etc. Thank you Arnold.

That law does not take effect until February 2011. If your dealer is instituting AB962 now, shop elsewhere.

Actually I'm in Washington state. I guess I just assumed ammunition had to go through a FFL. :o

No it comes to your house, it's pretty sweet.

I once ordered some ammo off cheaper than dirt that arrived in a box marked "Cookies - Keep Frozen". Thought that was humorous... Rifle ammo in a cookie box.

Yeah, take a trip to Vegas or AZ for the weekend, depending on where you're located. Have a fun weekend and stock up on ammo without submitting to DNA testing ;)
