I'm looking to switch to a qd sling attachment on the front of this carbine. Anyone have any feedback or experience with these? Is there a better option? One note is that I have moved the light mount forward about an inch from it's pictured location. Thanks.

I'm using a similar mount from GG&G:

I chose this set up because it allows me to mount a light on the opposite side. This was a compromise for me; if I left the light in my preferred left-thumb activated location it would be in the way of the sling. By running the light on the opposite side, it left the sling side obstruction free, but it also put me in a position where a remote switch was the best option for activating the light.

Where I located the pressure activation switch has minimized negligent light discharges, allowed easy ambidextrous activation and kept the wire out of the way and the light out of my line of sight while shooting. I still wish the light had a permanent on/off capability for certain situations and I would prefer not blocking vent holes if I didn't have to, but life is full of compromises.

There are positives and negatives to setting up the sling this way.
The pros:
I haven't yet been able to force a noticeable point of impact shift at 100 yds bearing down on the sling, even though I am not free floating the barrel. When cinching a VTAC sling down from the kneeling position, my hit ratio on difficult off-hand targets basically tripled. When I let the carbine hang, it places the barrel/grip in a good location to quickly reacquire a shooting position, but it doesn't get in the way of pistol transitions or running as much as the other ling set ups that I have tried.
The cons:
The sling is mounted so far forward that I don't have enough room to change magazines with my preferred method (like a pistol reload), which forced me to re-train to use a beer can grip. Only the longest slings will allow you to switch to your reactive side without choking yourself out. The GG&G version doesn't have rotation limiters so the sling was constantly twisting around until I redneck engineered it to limit rotation with some JB Weld. It also forced me to adopt a different light location than I am used to.
