Well, I finally got around to getting a CZ 527. I am looking for a smallish optic for it, maybe a low powered variable or fixed. Any ideas? I *think* I need a 1" tube unless 30mm rings are out there. I would like something that interferes with the bolt throw as little as possible. I would not like to break the bank.

What say you?

I'd take a look at a Leupold or Nikon 1-4x or 1.5-5x.

Do you have a price range in mind?

You're probably looking for something that will work inside of 300 yards or so in brush?

More or less. Figure 100-300m in light cover (I live out West). I'd like to spend less than $500. Less than $400'd be ideal, actually.

Some of those low power variables look like they'd suit your purpose and price range.

Both lines are definitely good to go for a sporting gun.

I looked at the VX-I and II scopes today. Not too shabby, and lighter than I'd imagined.

If I can locate and source some 30mm rings, I *might* try to rig and one-ring mount for an Aimpoint M2. (I ASSume it'd work...)

It would, but personally I'd go with a magnified optic for what you're doing with it.

True enough. I'll find out once I get the scope mounted, but I suspect that the dinky action will make bolt manipulation kinda tight. That's why I was thinking about an AP or maybe a Loopy Prismatic mounted in 1 ring on the forward mount. Maybe it'd free up some space aft and allow for faster cycling..?

On the very odd chance that anybody else looks at this- I went with the VX-I 2-7x. It's a good fit for the platform IMO and DOES NOT interfere with bolt operation.
