I'm a MIAD guy and have been since the show began back in what,
2004. All my AR's are thusly equipped, except for the oldie SP1
ultra-retro. I use the large rear, and A2 front strap.

are you using just the ergo grip or the ergo sure grip? the sure grip looks like you would be holding a sword.

I go back and forth between the MOE and the A2. I like the MOE cause it doesn't have that slit that runs up the side of the MIAD and it fits my hand very well. It's also light...

I'm currently in the process of making my rifle as light as possible. The A2 weighs 2.8 and the MOE weighs 2.7 with the insert so I'm gonna be sticking with that one for now. I know a tenth of an ounce doesn't sound like much but It's a game of ounces. They add up.

Check out this thread about Stark Equipment. Some very respected M4C members talk highly about the Stark SE- pistol grip.

Tango Down Battle Grip; to me it keeps a similar angle as the A2, which I would have kept the A2 but the little finger rest is not comfortable with my hand size.

I've used the MOE(angle is funny for me), RRA Hogue(accidentally melted it with mineral spirits), ERGO(slippery when wet) and the A2(don't like the finger divider).

The regular ambi version

Hogue.

Replaced it with a MOE for a while, but hated it...uncomfortable, and actually gave me hand cramps, so I went back...

Ergo grips on all mine.

You want mine:rolleyes:? I did not like it and it just sits in a box. I have one MIAD and the rest are Tango down. I like them about equally, maybe the MIAD a slight bit more

I try not to over think things...I have been using MOE's for awhile now and I believe I have tried all the others and settled on MOE's with all thing considered, price being maybe the biggest....plus you can not beat hidden logo's in your gear as far as zombie repelling goes:cool:

Same here, I've got gorilla hands and while smaller grips are basically usable for me, they're quite a bit less than ideal (especially in situations where I have to remove my support hand from the rifle, like for reloads or malf. clearances).

I've yet to personally find anything WORSE than an A2, although the Troy grip coming out that's basically a standard AK grip might do it (I hate those pencil-thin military AK grips).

i just really dont like grips without finger grips on them. and the CAA isnt to big or to small. it fits my hand perfectly.

I use the Magpul MOE currently. I may be changing my furniture over to FDE, so I may go with a different grip when I do that. I HATE finger grooves, so whatever I get won't have one of those. I also find the Hogue and Ergo grips way too damn thin.

MIAD for me. But I've found that the medium back strap fits me best, so future builds will probably get MOEs.

Over the years I've used A1, A2, Hogue, TD, Ergo, MIAD and MOE grips. I've ended up with MOEs on most and A1 or A2 grips on a few. MOEs fit my hand very well.

Hope this isn't considered a hi-jack, but since we're talking about grips... I want one with the trap door to stow a firing pin, etc but the only one I seem to see is the Magpul that has that extended web up the back of the frame which I do NOT like. Who makes a standard type A2 grip with trapdoor? Thx...

MIAD. It comes with a backstrap without the extended web and a front strap with the finger rest. You'll have to buy the extra cost bottom plug for the firing pin.

looks like its just you and me... this is the only grip i use. as you say, it's basically an improved A2, which is why i dig it.

little more ergonomic, little better retention, but basically the same size and position with no stupid nub- AND it covers the gap.

I use A-2 grips that have been stippled with a soldering iron.

Original A1 style grip; can't stand the A2 or anything with finger grooves. But I'm the same way on DA revolver stocks because I like to be able to adjust my grip a bit on the fly if necessary.

And, BTW, a rubber magazine cover for the M1/M2 carbine mag makes a dandy bottom cover for the grip and allows storage. Not sure if it's completely waterproof but it is definitely a very close fit. A hair dryer on high helps get it fit on and shaped the first time and thereafter it works like it was designed for the job. The hardest part is finding the covers these days.

I replaced the standard grip on my 6920 with the Magpul MOE. It fits my hand well and has storage. I haven't tried any others.

I'm using a MIAD with the flat front strap and medium backstrap, essentially the MOE size. I just finished stippling it, not because it truly needed it, but because I had the day off from work and I was bored :D. I got to handle a rifle with the upcoming MOE+, I think I'll be switching to that.

I figered I would never get the MIAD to a configuration that I would be happy with.

I handled a bunch of grips before I settled on the MIAD. I have it with the biggest back piece and the front piece that includes the trigger guard. It feels really comfortable. The A2 grip always felt way to small.

How does the MOE compare to the MAID? As in which front and back straps would you use on a MAID to get a MOE? Does the MAID have the possibility of being slimer than the MOE?

It's basically the medium insert with no finger grooves on the pistol grip.

I went with the MIAD on this AR, but, realistically, for me I see no point not to use the MOE, as the stock configuration is exactly how I use it.

I have a bunch of extra back straps, and I guess front straps, that I'll never use.

I had a MOE on my M4/203 overseas and really liked it but had to take it off when flying back and it was "liberated" (along with my MOE stock) by a USAF baggage handler. I used a Tango Down on my work M4 after that (as technically it's "issued" as I took it off one of our old M14 Sage stocks) but use a MIAD with no finger groove and the smallest backstrack at home. It's basically a improved A1 pistol grip and I keep 3 M856 tracer rounds in the bottom plug.

I hated how small the A2 grip was, switched to an Ergo ambi. The Ergo was better, but still not quite there. Enter the Stark grip, simply outstanding, I'll be getting another one for the older AR soon when I make some more upgrades.

Have used the MIAD and liked it but this feels better on my bare hands. The MIAD seems better suited for gloved use.

TangoDown and MIAD are used here. Prefer TangoDown for now. It fits my hand better.
