Picked up a G26 earlier today. Been awhile since I've had one. I'm wanting to get a couple of the GAP Enterprises' baseplates to try out.

Anyone try these and what do you think of them? Is there any place else to get these besides from the link?

I'm also considering pocket carry since my summer wear, cargo shorts, have decent sized pockets to allow it with a G26. I use a Desantis Nemesis for my J frames. Would you recommend it for the G26 also?

I've already got the other stuff I want/need. Ameriglo Operator night sights, smooth trigger assy., plug, and TD/Vickers mag release. Going shooting tomorrow.

I recently bought another G-26, after having sold one to a friend.

I bought a set of the GAP Enterprises baseplates. I like them. They allow the lower side of the ring finger to rest on the tip of the plate. It definitely does allow for a steadier grip, with the same concealment.

I also use a combination of the Pierce +0 and +2 magazine extensions. But the GAP plates allow for the greatest concealment.

I have a DeSantis Nemesis on order. I've been using their Superfly for my 642 lately. It's good for the wider pockets of cargo pants and shorts. The Nemesis is a bit smaller, and should fit a larger range of pockets.

I'm going to order one of these from RKBA Holsters:

http://www.rkbaholsters.com/Products.htm

I have one of their leather holsters for a 642, and really like it. I want to try one for a G-26.

Sounds like our pistols are set up the same. I put in a Vickers mag release, G-17 smooth trigger, plug and have a set of Ameriglo Hackathorn sights on backorder.

I'm also running a 3.5 pound factory connector with a NY trigger spring for the firmer reset.

How do you like the Operator sights?

On the RARE occasions when I try to pocket carry my G27, it rides in a Mika's pocket holster. Be advised, you better have some wide and deep pockets, and pants/shorts made out of HEAVY material...

I bought a set of the GAP floor plates to try out. I honestly don't think they did a thing for me as far as improved shooting of the little gun.

But where they did really shine is on drawing speed. With that small overhang they provide a good indexing point for my ring finger and make a quicker, positive grip. But again, after it's out of the holster and up into line of sight I don't see any significant difference in using these and factory flush base plates.

Overall I like the product for myself.

I'm loving the Operators. They are perfect for me. I've gone with the yellow rears/green front lately and like that combo better.

I've tried all the possible trigger setups and keep coming back to the standard setup, seem to shoot it the best.

Kevin,

My shorts are like you describe. With my jeans in the winter it won't work, pockets are too small.

I want to try the GAPs since I want to keep the concealability of the flat baseplate. I plan on using 19 mags as my reloads.

This is my typical CCW set up. Not as comfortable, light and concealable as a J-Frame in mika pocket holster, but significantly more potent package IMO that is worth the trade off.

My G26 is set up as follows:
Standard mag release and slide lock
Warren/Sevigny night sights
Gap base plate
Crimson trace laser guard laser
*I use G17 mags for reloads

**while many people have said that they find the G19 just as easy to conceal as a G26, I humbly disagree. While I don't find the G19 hard to conceal, I've found that for me the G26 is significantly easer to conceal IWB, especially under an untucked polo shirt.

Pocket holster:Fist kydex pocket holster (for G26 + CT laser)
I bought this holster (on beat trash's suggestion) and it has been working terrific. Works well in cargo shorts, cargo pants and in certain khaki pants. I don't worry too much about printing because odd buldges in the pocket area from keys, cellphones, wallets is pretty common. Though recently, after a year of CCW, the kydex tab under the dust cover that is used to stablize the pistol in the pocket has started to crack, it is still functional though I will need a new holster shortly.

GAP plates...I'm a big fan! I didn't think that it would make any measurable difference when I installed them and played with them during dry fire, but once I got onto the range I really found that they helped with the presentation of the pistol like one said. Additionally, I've also found that they give me a better recoil control...YMMV but to me it seems like the tab pushes up against the ring finger of my firing hand during recoil which lessens the rotation/torque/muzzle rise.

While my G19 would be my choice if I could only have one gun, my G26 would be my choice if I could only have one gun but couldn't have a G19 :D It's a great little pistol that shoots almost as well as a full size, takes full size mags, fires a full size bullet, has real gun ergos and is quite reliable.

The GAP plates make a huge difference in draw speed. Shooting is about the same but getting the slippery little thing out of my belly band without them is not a smooth operation by any means. As others have said despite the pictures people post pocket carry with a G26 only works with HUGE cargo type pockets. Seems right in theory but in practice it isnt comfortable.

i've seen first hand, and heard of a number of pierce grip floorplates blowing off mags. does the GAP plate fit better and stay on?

personally i carry my g26 with the factory flat floorplate. the +2's are nice but at that point i may as well just grab my G19 and get 3 extra rounds and more bullet velocity. i do notice a reduction in draw speed with the 26 with standard floorplates.

A G26 can be pocket carried, but it takes damn big pockets to do it. 5.11 pants have pockets big enough to carry the G26, but even then it's obvious there's a big square in your pants. Fortunately in our society it's just not considered polite to stare at people's groin area so even though it will print a bit the overwhelming majority will not notice.

I have the Nemesis for the G26 but I actually prefer the Galco leather (maybe it's horsehide...I dunno) pocket holster:

As a bonus, the holster also works with the M&P 9C. I prefer this holster because of the tips you can see at the top of the holster. They hang in the pocket and ensure separation from the pistol. The Nemesis works, but the fit on them is generally tighter which makes them harder to use and more likely to move with this particular handgun. I love the Nemesis for other handguns...I just think for the G26 the Galco works better. YMMV.

I have a nemesis for mine and it actually needs alittle trim to get a good grip on the frame in my opinion , but other than that i have carried it in cargo shorts with no prob.

The DeSantis Superfly would be a very nice pocket holster but for the fact that it covers too much of the grip to allow for a full firing grip in the pocket.

My favorite pocket holster for this gun so far, even though it is pricey, is Kramer's pocket holster.

Some type of anti-print panel is very helpful with a gun this large and heavy in a pocket.

Went shootin' yesterday. Put 450rds. through the G26, not one single issue, shot great. I used two G26 mags (one with the flat baseplate and one with a Glock +2 extension), two G19 mags, and one G17 mag. All functioned perfectly.

Whats the thought on 147gr. JHPs in short barrels? My current carry load for my 9mms is Federal HST 147gr. JHP.
