What is a good fitting bore guide yall use? and what is a good cleaning rod?

Ive been looking at this guide
http://www.bosesguns.com/product_p/dewm16b.htm

But I cant decide one the right cleaning rod. I know dewey makes one but they make coated and carbon fiber. Not sure of the benefit or cons of either.

Also, Im looking to get one rod that will be good for my AR, 30-30, and Rem 700 .270. SO what length of rod do yall think would be good for all three weapons?

Obvious the Rem 700 is the longest barrel at 24 inches.

Rod guides - I have been using the one from Sinclair. It's $20 and has a solvent port. It works well and I feel comfortable using a coated steel sectional rod (mil).

Lucas is the best for the coin...you will need the .22 & .270 cleaning rod insert depending on caliber & rod size you use. I like the plain Pro Shot one piece stainless rods.

They are all custom made so you will have to give him the action and caliber.

Remember that the same guide for a remmy 700 will work with 25-06, 270, 280, 30-06, etc since they are from the same family.

Feel free to PM me for contact info.

Since Dewey rods are coated is it even necessary for a bore guide?

to prevent rod bending and tip at the muzzle.

i am waiting JP bore guide to be back in-stock.

I like the Dewey bore guide in Brownell's catalogue (their stock # 234-015-000AF) at $13.50. You can do without one but rods tend to flex and bend more than I like without it.

I also have the Dewey coated rod in .22 but don't use it much. The GI sectional rod suits me fine as the short sections facilitate reciever cleaning and of course the handle works well for twirling the chamber brush with a section through the hole. I have smoothed and polished the sections and joints, and figure that with that, wiping the rod every pass, the bore guide and the chrome bore I'm not going to damage anything.

I do use a coated Dewey for the .30 caliber rifles, though.

The minimum length rod you should have is 26 in. This will give you enough clearance for your 700 and more than enough for the AR and 30-30. I have been using Tipton graphite rod for all my rifles, from AR, Garand to FN A3G.

Where'd you find one for 13.50? I put in the stock number and it turned one up for 21.99.

So the pull-through method from the muzzle is not used with one-piece rods?

I've found the JP Bore Guide (http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=18912/pid=7595/sku/AR_15) to be the nicest. It's made from solid aircraft aluminum and it has a solvent port. The construction alone is what sold me on it.

I have several different rods around here but it seems like I use my tipton carbon fiber a bunch. I'll have to admit that I use a bore snake quite a bit too.

Can't go wrong with the Lucas guide along with a Dewey rod. I use them for bolt guns and AR15s when cleaning at home.

Are you able to get a bore brush through the JP Enterprises rod guide?
