I haven't shot or 'grip taped' up my new M&P45 yet but here's some pics of it next to my G21SF of them next to each other. In the pic showing the mags you can see the very slight difference in the grip angles. The M&P45 fits into my M&P9 Safariland 6004 but won't allow the retention hood to close.

Great visual comparison. Make sure to follow up with a "how they shoot" comparison as well.

gotm4: when I added beavertails to my Glocks, the hood on the 6004 wouldn't close either. It was a simple modification to the 6004 hood with careful application of a Dremel to allow clearance with the beavertail. Check your S&W - if the hood is contacting the beavertail, it may very well be that a small modification to the 6004 hood will cure it for you. Another way would be to wrap 80 grit sandpaper around a small cylindrical object and sand it out to a nice radius for clearance.

Thanks for the tip: I take a look at it again but I think it was catching on the end of the slide (rear sight/cover plate area). If it is catching on the slide I can probably remove about 1/8" from the muzzle end of the 6004 so that the gun will drop lower into the holster. My 6004 is made for the M&P9/40 where the slides are a little shorter.
