I have found a very good deal on 6700's for $799 while 6920's are $1099.

I have been wanting a "good" AR for years but funds are limited. Therefore, I had been considering a S&W M&P or Rock River or even others but can't bring myself to pull the trigger and part with the funds.

Any advice for a poor preacher?

I believe the Colt 6700 is one of the 'Match Target' series. They are pretty much a 'post ban' version of the AR-15 rifle.
The MT rifles have either a compensator in place of the flash suppressor or a plain crowned barrel, no bayonette lug, and in the case of the MT6400C (carbine), has a pinned telestock.

Great rifles. $799 is a great price for one in my neck of the woods, and I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up if I were you. I myself have a Colt MT6400C, and am very happy with it.

Good luck!

That is an excellent price. I paid a lot more for mine. The MT6700 has a 1/9 twist barrel, and there were some years where only the chamber was chrome lined. If it is fairly recent manufacture, it will likely have the full weight M16 bolt carrier and a chrome lined bore.

Excellent price - that is tempting.

As for the 6920s - check sturmgewehr dot com - posters/dealers list them their for that cost quite often.

An MT6700 has no comp, an MT6700C has a comp. I agree it is an excellent price and mine is an excellent rifle.

What serial # does that start with? mine is #CJC 0600XX

Side of the reciever marked Match Target Competition HBAR II.

If I google the " CJC " prefix, I get nothing.

Purchased used Colt owners manual Copy right 1994
Back states Part. no 96111 REV B OCT 96

So is this a 6700 series firearm?

the 6700 is marked Competition HBAR
the 6731 is marked Competition HBAR II (I have one and the s/n starts with the CJC prefix)

As stated, both of those are exceptional prices. Whichever configuration you choose (those two are very different), I'd be comfortable going with that seller cost wise.

MT6601, MT6601C, MT6700, and MT6700C are 20"
MT6731, MT6400C, MT6400R are 16"
CR6724 is 24"

I agree about the prices MT6700's are at least $1050 (us) and LE6920's are at least $1250 (us) around here.

Not to say that is not a good price, but I do believe the $799 Colt from CDNN is a used rifle...police trade-in perhaps.

I called about those 6700s. The CDNN rifles are Law Enforcement trade ins. They are not NIB.
