I've done a lot of research and it seems the 405s are the ones to get. However, the 105s seem to better lend themselves to pocket carry. Is there a significant size difference between the two models? Should I not sweat the size difference since the 405s have extra padding and a master on/off switch, unlike the 105s?

There padding difference between the 405 and 105 is negligible for pocket carry. The thickness is practically the same. For people with big hands, the 105 may be a better choice because of the LESS padding in the front strap area. The rubber pad on the front strap of the 405 takes away some of the grip area and would give less area for big fingers to wrap around the grip. The bottom two fingers would have to lay under the bottom part of the grips. Meaning = less control. Something to think about.

I have had 105's on my 340pd for a couple of years now and wish I could switch to the 405's, more padded one's. It just hurts to shoot the gun. It's my bug and I have to qualify with it and I just dread having to go through it anymore (Gold Dot .38+P). I know people will say "when the SHITF" you won't notice the recoil but each time the little gun hits the hand my brain just starts to wince. If you plan on shooting your gun more than a couple of times a month get the 405's.

In my experience the LG405s should be the only ones made. I've yet to find a problem with the 405s and pocket carry. The more tacky rubber is just on the front and back straps, with the harder plastic/rubber on the sides. The size difference is negligible between the two. When using +Ps for practice out of my 442, I can go 40-50 rounds without too many problems on the hands. For standard loads its not even an issue. The master on/off switch is nice if practicing indoors with just irons... you're not distracted by the laser.

In short, get the LG405s. I have found they are well worth the increase in price.

100% G2G for pocket carry for me W/ the 405's in a Mika pocket holster. I really like the master on/off and will not own another CT grip w/o it.

I use 105s. Actually replaced my 405s with them. The 405s are very long and the soft rubber wanted to snag on things. I am not recoil sensitive (if it weren't so expensive I wouldn't mind having an SC gun) and the hard rubber is fine for me. Obviously YMMV.

Are you sure you had 405s and not 305s? I know the 305s are longer, but I'm under the impression that 105s and 405s are the same length.

You're right that was the 305. That one is worthless. I really like my 105s though.

Not an expert, but I only use 105's. I do not like the 405 or the 305.

I have an M&P340 with the 105's mounted. Biggest reason is the smaller grip profile and they don't have that snagging tacky rubber grip. The recoil doesn't bother me much with +p loads, although full house .357 mags can be punishing after about 10 or 15 rounds.

mine has the 105s, no problems shooting 135 +p
do I want to shoot 200 rounds? no

I have the 305's on mine and it fits on my ankle or hip perfectly. I never notice it when I wear it and the extra .5 inch at the bottom makes a world of difference in hand comfort, accuracy and muzzle flip. MTC
