Old version was good.
New version is better.
Definitely some nice improvements there.
Nice. I like how the buttpad resembles the tread of a shoe. :p
Thats good action right there.

Interesting length. This looks to be about the same length as a Sully stock. I could probably shoot this stock fully collapsed all the time. I'd like to test one out.

FYI, the E-MOD is 7.6" long at the centerline of the buffer tube, with the buttpad. about .2" longer than the crane.
i like the feel of the new pad, plus it won't slip off - the plate is bolted on.
Looks interesting, but when I go to your site and click on the pics, I get prompted for a username and pword...
he's got directions on his site on how to access the pics.

As always...........Awesome review MM.
Kind of odd that Vltor came out with this stock. I have switched many of my Vltor stocks over to the LMT SOPMOD stocks over the last year because I prefer the longer lenght, the footprint of the buttplate, and have grown extreemly fond of the integrated rubber buttpad.
I had planned on mentioning to Eric the next time that I had talked to him to make a integrated buttpad for his modstocks, as I never cared for the slip on unit. And after getting acustom to the rubber buttpad on the LMT SOPMOD stock, stocks without a rubber buttpad just don't feel right anymore.
Obviously Eric was way ahead of the game and made several improvements to his design.
Good on him!!!
Any word on estimated pricing for the E-MOD?

thanks, jeff. yes, eric designed the E-MOD to cater to those who like the longer LOP of the crane and integral pad.
not sure on availability yet.

I'm really digging that new buttpad design. Never been a fan of slip on butt pads, and at that price with that cheek weld, I think Vltor's got a hot seller.
Can't wait to get ours in. A new Noveske SBR lower is just begging for an E-MOD...
Geez -- I and found the Crane stock a week bit too long all in, in body armor...
That said looks like I might have to grab one or two from some other guns in my home vault
A question and a comment:
1) Does the E-MOD still have the horizontal slot in the rear of the stock in the area of the battery tubes?
2) If Eric would consider it, I would like to see 2 slots in the stock. One horizontal slot (same location as the standard model) and a vertical slot all the way at the rear of the stock (basically in the same fashion as the LMT SOPMOD).
I know there is a QD swivel at the rear, but I really don't care for *most* QD swivels as they let the QD sling swivel rotate 360 degrees and this causes the sling to twist (around several times) and the user ends up fighting the sling instead of using the sling. I also find that most QD attachment points on slings sit to low, and the buckle and / or sling often interfers with my face when attempting to get a cheekwell quickly.
The thing I didn't like about the horizontal slot on the standard model Vltor stock is that if you looped a sling through the horizontal slot at the rear of the stock, the sling never sits on the shoulder well because the sling has to twist to sit on the shoulder correctly.
With the vertical slot on the rear of the LMT SOPMOD stock, the sling sits perfectly on the shoulder without twisting. Hopefully a couple pics could show what I'm trying to explain:
This is how I run my slings on the Vltor stock. Note how the sling has to twist 90 degrees to sit properly on the shoulder when the sling is in the slung position:

http://i153.photobucket.com/albums/s206/molsen2295/USMC03/Stag%20midlength%20foliage/DSC02097.jpg
This is how I run the sling on the LMT SOPMOD, note how the sling is already in the correct positoin and doesn't have to twist at all in order to sit properly on the shoulder when in the slung position:

Both the vertical and horiziontal sling slots at the rear of the stock would be a desireable feature to have on the stock.

jeff, the horizontal slot above the swivel is still there. the bottom one has been eliminated. i know exactly what you mean by vertical vs horizontal. you can always ask eric to consider it, but i think it's too late to change the mold. they're already shooting the stocks. also, adding a vertical slot would require quite a bit of redesign, especially in the lower battery compartment area.
i dislike QD swivels as well, too, but since i attach my VCAS sling to the receiver end plate, i don't run into issues with the stock.
Nice upgrade... Like Jeff.. once I made the switch to the SOPMOD, I sold my VLTOR and never looked back. There is nothing in this newer model that would make me ditch my SOPMOD, but because of the features and the price point, I believe it is an excellent option for those looking for a SOPMOD type stock at a more attractive price.
Just my thoughts

Like everyone else, I really like the new integrated buttpad, but I have to wonder aloud: What the point of adding a third battery compartment? If you really need to carry that many batteries on your weapon, then the S**T has really hit the fan and you've got more important things to worry about then replacing batteries.

Who said you had to put batteries in the square compartment?
Looks like the perfect place for mini-candy bars (you know, the ones that you hand out at Halloween), or mini-bags of Skittles, M&M's, etc. for classes, etc. Gone are the days of having to leave the line to hydrate and get a power snack ;)
You gotta think "outside the box", in order to fit mission essencial equipment "into the (battery) box" :D

as jeff mentioned (as did i in my writeup), the trapdoor compartment will store small parts (cam pin, firing pin retaining pin, gas rings etc) as well as the smaller size (N, aimpoint, flat 'coin' batteres) that don't really fit well in the regular tubes.
i'm gonna have a teeny weeny custom-made camelbak bladder about 2" long made, with a mini drinking tube to put in the compartment for that one emergency sip of water :D
Curious if those little bottles of break free would fit into that compartment...
I know you could get some beef jerky strips to fit in there....;)
Definetly good for small spare parts in a ziplock bag
SBR paperwork for you lucky Bastards
Spare ear plug sets
Maybe spare AAA batts for ear pro
small pocket knife or multi tool
Mini Chemlights for ACOGs
Small roll of riggers tape or 550 cord
Front sight adjustment tool
ruptured case extractor
small 1st aid kit for little boo boo's
little black book for pickin up chicks phone #'s at the range.
the possibilites are endless..........:)

i'm liking the E-MOD. looks good (IMHO), feels good, love the buttpad.

I know what I'll be putting in mine- that one brand of condom that doesn't come in a square wrapper but a rectangular one where the circle is more oval- it will fit right in there. I'll finally be able to go to the range where all the chicks usually hover over me because I have the coolest guns
So who's making the new rail covers?

So who's making the new rail covers?
that's the tangodown SCAR panel - it's not offered commercially (yet).
I really like the new features on the EMod. Feels right, balances well on the mid-lenght, comfort and ergonomics are outstanding:

I just got mine yesterday for my 3gun rifle. I love it. I like it on click 2 on a VLTOR receiver extension for a nose-to-charging handle-LOP. It replaced my CTR. I believe it'll serve me very well. It feels much better for using 2 different optics on the rifle (regular scope and a close range optic at 2 o'clock on the FF tube).
