You guys have got to get a handle on the newbies and the Spike's shit. This is beyond out of control.
ETA: I've never seen this level of shilling before, anywhere - period.
i thought this was being done by merging all spikes threads to the main spikes thread (in the ar section?)

I'm not insinuating that there's not effort on the part of the mods, but I just came across another Spike's thread that was one of the lamest attempts at shilling I've seen this side of eBay...
I'm sorry, but a company that manufactures bogus suppressors has no business being referenced on a training forum.
I've chosen not to gripe until now, but this is totally deliberate; I've come to no other conclusion.
I don't have any suggestions for a fix, other than:

Believe me we've talked about banning all mention of Spikes and anyone that posts about them. Please use the report post feature if you find one so that all the mods and staff receive an email and can jump on these quicker.

I did, and it's already been cleaned up.
I've probably earned myself an infraction for starting this particular thread, but seeing yet another one just hit a raw nerve.
Again, I know you guys've got your hands full trying to deal with it, but it's just absurd. I don't know what the deal is, I haven't gone through THE Spike's thread, because quite frankly, I don't really care about Spike's.
I came to M4C to learn from some knowledgeable folks, and I've learned quite a bit. I do believe, that the little insurgency going on is raising the signal-to-noise 'round here, and watering stuff down. It seems like it's been going on, just from what my eyes have seen over the course of about two to three months.
Initially I chalked it up to post-Obama, new AR-Owner, typical FNG crap, but it's definitely deliberate, and I think it's a pretty serious concern for the long-term integrity of the site.
I say that, not because I can't separate the ice-cream from the bullshit, but because I'm concerned that new folks, actual real new folks, won't be able to; or that the site's professionalism, objectivity, and pragmatic nature will be watered down by a bunch of infantile goobers with a petty agenda.
I can tell you that it's at the top of our priority list. If you or anyone else sees one please report it. Our guys have been very good about stomping on them but we might need a little heads up from time to time.

I think my gripe isn't strictly tied into Spike's, per-se', but as a whole.

I'm going to admit that I personally did a disservice to anyone curious by avoiding doing my writeup:
I live within a ten minute ride of TAPCO. I received several of their mags from them to do a T&E. The individual from TAPCO wanted me to post my findings. Obviously he did so in good faith, and a belief in their products. I believe that, if you're going to buy an AR, load-up on mags, and stuff it in a closet for the "Zombie Apocalypse", then they're an excellent choice, since they won't get used. I didn't do the writeup. Here's the writeup: THEY SUCKED. I didn't post it here, because I knew that most of the end-users on M4C wouldn't get them anyway. On top of that, the mags had already been released. If they were a beta-version, I would've provided feedback. At that point, TAPCO believed that, for the general Fudd-user, these would be an excellent product. I suppose they expected me to do a Fudd-run, you know, "ran amazing...30 flawless...went bang everytime..." sort of test. If you feed me a shit-sandwich, don't expect me to be your friend, just because it was free. My tongue-biting was my "payback" for sending me some T&E materials...

Grant/IG/Others do a good job of filtering the kernels from the crap, but...it feeds right into my absolutely pointless posting of threads theory. Basically, "Quick, tell me I'm making the right decision; this seems like a good idea. Oh, hello, a representative from the manufacturer of crap comes on here to peddle piss and sell it as rain".

I'm not claiming to have never asked some dopey questions. What I'm starting to see is that more just general, pointless crap is cluttering up the boards.
The only thing off the top of my head is to create a "general firearms discussion" category to dump all the goofy, Which-Widget-Should-I-Buy, or items that aren't of a technical nature into.
In short, it seems Trollish, and borderline Fuddy around here lately, and the Spike's thread I reported tonite just lit my fuse.
