Has a hi-point pistol ever been used in a high round count test, torture test, been used in a class, etc?

I hear alot about how they are crap.....but no real evidence.

No, it's not going to be my next pistol stfu.

Why bother to ask questions like that, it's not now nor has it ever been a contender as a useful defensive pistol. They are garbage.

I can't find the pic, but my stepbrother owned one a few years ago when he bought one without asking me about it first (he's not a gun guy). We went to the range, he fired a few [factory] rounds. There were no squibs. Then I noticed something that wasn't a bullet flying down range. Guess what it was? If you guessed that the slide snapped in half, launching the recoil assembly and the front half of the slide downrange, then you're correct!

I saved the pieces as a reminder for folks who consider them.

The slides are made of zamak 3, commonly known as pot metal.

That feels like an insult to my pots.

I've thought about buying one and running it hard until it's destroyed just so I can say from personal experience that they're garbage, but I don't make enough money to justify spending it that way.

This is probably the worst Hi-Point video on Youtube:

I'm still trying to figure out what the Civil War and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. have to do with the gun. OK, sorry. I'm done with the videos now.

One can't help but wonder what your true intention is having started this, Kal. You know you took heat from the Taurus thread, yet you have now graduated to a Hi-Point discussion? Are we just testing the waters?

Since you made it clear via fine print that you don't want one, what's the overall objective of this discussion?

The evidence is abundant in that they break frequently, are generally made of piss-poor quality materials, and generally aren't used by a single individual I can name who is actually serious about the purpose of handguns.

We've granted some indulgence on the subject of crappy handguns as a means of education...but Hi-Points stretch beyond the limits of what we're willing to tolerate. The bottom line is that they are terrible pistols and shouldn't be used or purchased unless a sharp stick is the alternative...and even then you should probably take a hard look at the sharp stick.
