I ordered the Vltor SM-G which is supposed to fit a 1" flashlight and after tightening the mount on the Magpul polymer rail (even tried on the pic rail on the top of my DDXV) as tight as it will fit, my surefire 6p just slides in and out. Am I doing something wrong?

There's one screw... not much that could go wrong.
edit: Is your 6p the nitrolon or classic knurled version? If it's the polymer(nitrolon) version then you have the correct mount, if it's the classic version then you'd need Model# SM-CK

The G is for the G2 flashlights that are a little bigger than 1". You need the CK (Classic Knurled) for a 6P.

From vltor:

G-series Scout Mount
Model# SM-G
Flashlight widths:
1.025 - 1.040 inches

CK-Series Scout Mount
Model# SM-CK
Flashlight widths:
1.010 - 1.026 inches
