It's been about 3 years since I had The Vest Guy make his PS90 Mag Shoulder holster for me. I've been meaning to post about it here, as I thought it might interest others. I was the guinea pig for this item, as it was my idea to come up with one. I do have a PS90 tactical vest that will also hold 4 PS90 mags (he made that for me as well). But, no one in my area wears tactical vests at the shooting range, and I didn't want to be looked at very strangely by showing up wearing one.

So, I wanted an alternative...

I asked him to make me a shoulder holster to hold four 50 round PS90 magazines - 2 on each side. As he had never made anything like this before, there was some trial and error. I got the first prototype, and made some suggestions. I'll give it to The Vest Guy - If my memory serves me correctly, he took my suggestions and ran with them immediately. I had the prototype in my hands a few days later. I sent the first one back after making some suggested changes, and he made the changes I requested.

He did the criss cross pattern across the back that I wanted (standard shoulder holster design). He also came up with an ingenious design with the straps - each of the 4 ends are velcroed up underneath themselves. So, adjustments are easily made.

(Its worth noting that in the pic - all 4 mags were unloaded. With the weight of loaded mags, the back part of the straps will settle flat against my back)

When I took it out of the bag and tried it on, I had to make a few adjustments. I shortened the rear straps, and then the entire thing hung properly across my back.

The magazine holster attaches to your belt if you wish (tie-downs), for added stability. And, that's how I rigged it up for the pictures (there is extra strapping hanging down because I still haven't got around to cutting the extra length yet). But, even without using the belt tie-downs, the shoulder holster remains very stable as it hangs. It doesn't move at all, even when not hooked to the belt. Nice, if you don't want to have to tuck in your shirt (mine is not normally tucked in).

I'm still very impressed with this thing, even after all this time. And, it works well with the 2 point Urban ERT sling that I have on my PS90. I found that the mag carriers do not get in the way of the sling at all, and bringing the weapon up from the hanging position can be done with ease. Moving with the shoulder holster and the strapped weapon is also easily done.

Back when we first worked this thing out, I wasn't really sure if this whole idea would work. And, I really had my doubts as the product developed. But, I really like the end product and think the members here should check it out.

Some may prefer a vest - that is fine. But, I think this is a great alternative. Now, with the mag on the PS90 and this shoulder holster completely loaded, I have 5 mags at my disposal. Not bad!

Now that I have my MSAR, I am contemplating asking him to make one for the MSAR AUG mags (he and I have already discussed it), once I stop spending money on my recent flashlight obsession

VERY COOL! I wonder if he could make something like that for M4 mags?

Probably...

Here is the webpage to order it - http://thevestguy.com/product.asp?id=10174

Contact him and see what he can do. I asked about MSAR mags, and was told I'd just need to send 1 in, and he could make it. M4 mags are pretty common. He probably already knows the size to make it to to fit those mags.
