I recently took off my barrel nut in order to align the gas tube hole a little better. I had a set of Troy DI rails that never locked up tight and sat crooked. I got everything back together but when I put the FSP taper pins in I cannot get them in as far as they were when I punched them out when I started. I tried a bigger punch, a bigger hammer, and a bigger swing. Now all I got is a dinged up FSP and a sore thumb. Should I be worrying about that 1/16 inch or is it good enough. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Did you install the from the ejection port side?

Yes. The pin goes in but i dont think that it is pushed through as far as the factory did.

use a set of large vise-grips and a piece of leather to prevent marring. beating on the pins deforms them, which is probably why they wont go in all the way. your local hardware store sells 2/0 taper pins, if the ones you're using are 8up. you'll need to cut them to length, though.
