So when I did a low carb - unlimited calories diet a few years ago for a 7 week period , I lost on average 3.5 pounds per week but when eating less than 10 carbs per day I had to pee every 10 to 15 minutes. And the need came on urgently, without time to stop at a gas station or find a McDonalds so I had to carry a bottle in the car. Plus I got little work done because I was rushing from my office to the rest room all the time.

Does anyone know if there is a way to do a low carb diet without bringing this problem on?

Didn't have the problem when I did Atkins years ago.

Talk to your doc. Frequent urination with sudden urge can be indicative of a number of things.

Frequent urination can result from a low carb diet.

When your body runs out of carbs to breakdown for energy it begins breaking down fat which results in the release of ketones. Ketones are what can cause people with diabetes to use the bathroom frequently because there arent producing enough insuling to use glucose in the blood and begin breaking down fat.

I am in the same boat right now. 24 pounds lighter so far in 6 weeks but I take 1 day a week and eat what I want, and was on vacation for a week. I would rather purge the water than have the weight.

I thought running to the bathroom is how you lost weight on those diets. :p
