Well I picked up my rifle yesterday and I am very pleased with it! The rifle is extremely light weight. Much lighter than i thought it would be. The only thing missing to make this a useful rifle is iron sights. I am hoping to buy those in the next few weeks.

Anyways this is what I have got so far. In the end it will have Troy front tritium irons and plain troy rear irons. It will also wear a TA33-GH with a larue mount. Hopefully by the end of the summer.

Anyways, I am glad it is for the most part done! I hope to shoot it very soon.

Thx

Great looking rifle! What barrel did you use and who built it for you?

Thank you for the relies. The barrel is from Centurion Arms. Specifically this one:

I had Rainier put it together for me. They did a great job....

payj,

That's not far off from what I'm looking to build. You'll have to post some pics of it once you get your optics on.

Very nice build. I am planning something very similar. Let us know how it shoots.

Well since I don't have irons on I could not do a "real" shoot. However, I couldn't wait so I put 60 rounds of federal 55gr through it. It performed flawlessly....

Just to throw this out there.

Troy rear sights, and PRI gas block sights provide an amazing sight picture.

And they look really ****in' cool. :)

Nice rifle.

Did you use the standard Centurion barrell or the lightweight? Can you get a weight on the complete rifle?

That is a fantastic rifle! I was planning on a Centurion CHF bbl for a mid range rifle, but it had not occurred to me to use the mrp upper. I am afraid some of us might copy your good ideas for our own builds. :p:)

Feel free to ask any Q's if you have them....

I assume the Mega mono upper works with a standard AR15 barrel and does not require a proprietary barrel or any barrel modification. Is that correct?

Do you know how the weight of the Mega Mono upper compares to a Mega billet upper plus railed forearm such as Daniel Defense Lite 12.0? I am just wondering if there is a weight penalty for this setup. I ran through the numbers and it does not seem there is much of a cost penalty as compared to using a Mega billet upper with a quality rail.

The MTS-300 (midlength) mono wights 22.9 oz with the dust cover and forward assist. The billet upper weights 9.4 oz without those two things. So add a few oz's for those two? The DD 12 rail weights 14oz's. So my guess is with the dust cover and forward assist added there would be an additional 2oz's? Idk just my guess. If I am correct the upper would weight 11.4oz's. So 11.4+14=25.4oz. So it would end up weighing 2.5 oz's more. Even if my guess on the dust cover and assist are wrong it would still weight .5oz more. That said, those have to weight something!!

Hope that helps....

It sounds like you found the way forward, and I predict more will follow your example.

500grains you asked a long time ago and missed the Q and looked over this thread tonight so thought I would answer...yes the upper does work with any barrel no mods required :)

Put 700 rnds through it, very smooth and fun to shoot!
