View Full Version : My SP1
1977 model and this is the only picture I have at work of it without other weapons. The magazine in it is not original as I was cleaning it at the time. And yes I shoot it and it will run.
Nice rifle. Have a similar one but never shot it.

I don't want to hijack your thread but what do think your rifle is worth? I have the chance to buy one identical to yours and was wondering what one was worth.
As far as worth I can only speculate because condition of rifle has alot to do with $$$. I got mine for $1000 about 5 months ago and I am happy It is all according to what a man whats and how much he is willing to pay. Good luck with your purchase.:)

Thanks.
Nice looking rifle, I like the simplicity of the A1 sights. How does it shoot?
It shoots well enough for my old eyes. I have even shot some m855 which it shot ok. I really look at it more than I shoot it.

Great weapon, my is 1974-1975 vintage.
The only thing I have changed is to put a duckbill flash hider on it. I did keep the A1 flash hider though. I will keep it as is and just shoot it from time to time. I may even build a retro eventually.:D
An SP1 in early 1994 was worth $600.
An SP1 in early 1995 was worth $1200.
An SP1 in early 2010 was worth $1200.
Normally firearms appreciate at 3% compounded. The anomaly with the SP1 was due to the 1994 -2004 Assault weapons ban.

nice looking rifle......
Thanks again all...I am somewhat hesitant to shoot it very much. I want it to last for a while. My two teenage daughters do like to shoot it though. They say it is much easier than my 16" piston carbine. Maye one day I will aquire another and give each of my daughters one. Sounds like a plan to me anyway. They like to shoot the SP1 and my AK74 so I think they would really like their own SP1. I can dream anyway.

A friend of mine sold a 1973 SP1 carbine with that teeny tiny butt stock that had only 2 positions earlier this year for $1350 and the buyer thought he got a good deal. The exterior finish of the gun was in good but not pristine condition. Although not the original owner, my friend said he had shot close to 10K rounds through the gun himself over the years, so he was quite happy to add 100 bucks to what he got from the SP1, replace it with a Noveske 14.5, and continue shooting.
I only know what I see on tables at the gun show, and that is ask prices, which are usually soft.
I think the CAR version brings slightly more.
