Was told by the shop I make all of my purchases at that their distributor had in his possession 10 glock 19 gen4's and did the shop want any of them. Suffice to say they ordered all 10. The shop said with shipping being interrupted by the holiday they should get them on Thursday. Expect detailed range report and pics after the weekend. I'm going to try and put it through the 2000 round challenge if I can find the ammo. I'm super excited!

That will be my next gun purchase.

Me three.

I've got a set of Warrens waiting for one. I've never used a G19 with a rail, so it will be a fun change.

Very nice! Subscribing to the thread and looking forward to your range report. Been waiting for the gen4 19 as I think it's going to be my next handgun purchase.

Crap! As soon as I figure out which snubby to buy I learn of this news? Figures...

Oh well, I'll have to wait on the G19 because my snubby is going on order Tuesday. The Gen4 G19 will have to wait a couple more weeks.

I plan on picking one of these up and running with it bone stock.

That's how you're suppose to run all Glocks ;)

With the following exceptions:

Vickers Mag Catch
Butt Plug
Heinie, Warren or Ameriglo sights

The Gen 4 does away with the need for the Vickers mag catch and grip tape.

I am going to work with the stock sights for a while and see how they work out.

The stock sights may be crap (I've certainlyl always thought so) but I've seen very good shooters in their 20's with young eyes shoot those crappy sights extremely well and actually shoot with less precision when they switched to more approved sight sets like AmeriGlo or Warrens. I'm sure it has to do with the width of rear notch and fronts.

I hate you :D

Going to get one too. I'll slap in a Gen3 trigger bar, a 3.5lb connector, and an NY1 spring. Top it with either Ameriglo Pros or Warren Tacticals and it will ride in a Shaggy. Chicken's done!

I plan on buying one ASAP.

All I see buying for it are Defoor Tactical sights, Glock extended slide stop, and a butt plug.

After fondling a Gen4 G22 at Virginia Arms I can see the need for a Gen4 Vickers Mag Release and I hope Larry makes one. While the OEM mag catches are bigger (and the grip slightly shorter) I could use a little longer release. I also think that add a set of CT grips will make a longer mag release a requirement.

There are two different types of CT grip for the Glock.

I was thinking about CT grips for the gen 4's. Not sure the new 417 model will work, unless you have the medium strap installed. That model works in the front to backstrap dim and with no backstrap installed I don't think it will work. Am I incorrect on this? I guess the older style CT's might work as the ride on the backstrap only. Wish they could come up with something as slick as the M&P grips...

Anyone know the grip size difference with the small VS genIII ?

Guess it's time to try to sell my 19 with only a few rounds through it.

Then slap on some Warren Tactical tritiums and a Glock (-) connector, and it'll be set for me.

I wonder if it's going to ship with a 40 spring a "fixed" spring or something altogether different.

Either way, I'm likely to pick one up. :)

07-05-10, 12:31
Mine will have Warren Tactical's and nothing else. The stock mag release works well for me. I don't ever think about it, it's intuitive to punch, and thats all I require of it. Given my highly positive Gen 4 17 experiences I would prefer the "40" spring rather than give up some of the flat shooting characteristics of my 17's. Assuming that translates over to the 19. I have also been fine with the stock trigger. I also used to always use the extended slide stop and butt plugs but don't anymore. The fact that I don't miss them tells me I never really needed them.

I have not heard anything about 23's anywhere and Glockmeister says they haven't. So probably not. Although the Gen 4 17's and 22's were released at the same time I believe.

I've got three levels of 9mm to test it with. NATO 124 gr, WWB 115, and seriously weak Federal 115gr. It will be interesting to see what spring it comes with. I'm not too concerned about it since my Gen 4 17's have been just fine.

I was very tempted in buying it but I don't think it offers anything over my G19 RTF2. Mine has the 3lbs connector, NY1 Olive, extended slide release and Meprolight Tru-Dot and I love it. What are the upgrades the Gen 4 has over the Gen 3?

I just got the call from my local shop... My Gen4 Glock 19 is in and waiting for me!!!
I don't have time until monday to get it though.

I am trading in my Gen3 Glock 23 as I haven't put more than a few hundred rounds through it and haven't shot it in years-literally.

Got a set of Ameriglo plain serrated black rear and a pro orange square front that I will have them put on.

Can't wait-should hit the range with it next friday as my work week is JAMMED. :(

I will report back

This was the 1st one out of the shop, they havent even gotten their LE order in yet. He got 10 in and they are all spoken for, I got the call first and shoehorned it into my day to pick it up.

Just picked mine up at Glockmeister. They have commercial and blue label. The out of the box trigger is good. It's an 03 recoil spring. I need to get some Warrens on it but don't see changing anything else. I've got ammo lined up for this weekend. 300 rds one day, clean and lube, 300 rds the next.

Kentucky Cop, When I picked up my 19 today I asked Glockmeister again if they had any ETA on Gen 4 Glock 23's and they didn't. They were actually kind of surprised Glock released the pistol in 9 instead of .40 first as with the Glock 22 Gen 4's. Then again they sell a boatload of 19's and many fewer 23's. They also said they will get a second shipment of Gen 419's next week.

07-08-10, 19:04
I apologize if this has already been covered in the thread but are the gen 4 G19's considered "SF" frames or standard G19 sized?

HK45
07-08-10, 19:09
They are not called SF and are not so marked. If you use it with no backstrap as it comes out of the box then the grip will be similar to an SF grip. The medium grip will make it like a Gen 3 Glock and the large grip even bigger. Even though I have pretty big hands I use no backstrap on my Gen 4 17's and probably won't on these either. After having the Gen 4 Glocks the hump on the bottom grip feels huge to me like it's sticking into my hand. it also is less of a grip angle with no backstrap. It's different enough that even though i want a Glock 34 and 35 I probably won't get one until and if they have a Gen 4 version of those pistols.

Now that I have some time to fondle it the mag release is nice with my limited time thus far. I normally have to rotate my hand a bit to hit the release on my Gen3's, not so with the G4 pistol.

Only thing I have noticed is a "oval" shaped discoloration on the R side of the slide up front, you can see it in my photo above. I dont care, just noticed it. Also, the finish on the slide material where the recoil rod sits has an area that is very thick and dark. Much different than the texture of the finish on the rest of the slide, again just a cosmetic thing i noticed.

So far this pistol fits my hand noticibly bettern than the gen 3's. The hump at the bottom is not as pronounced, I can get a lot more finger on the trigger, and hitting the mag release will be much more fluid w/out a lot of disruption to my strong hand firing grip.

Hope to get ~150-200 rounds of winchester NATO 124gr fmj through it next Friday.

Just a quick note since I'm at work on my blackberry. Picked mine up today and ran 350 rounds through it with no failures. 100 124 g nato rounds, 100 147 g crap personal protection JHPs and 150 115g federal el cheapo. This also has the 03 spring. More detailed review tomorrow, and 2000 round challenge on sunday :-)
