I've never seen stippling like that before. How'd you come up with that desgin?
L3mon looks great man! I might just bring you some xtm panels and a MIAD when I see you at the Woolmarket range.
Looking good. I've done the same thing to a MIAD, some XTM panels, an RVG and my PMAGs. The Magpul polymer seems to far respond better than some other plastics I've tried (e.g., Glock frames).
Very nice work. I think you'll like it.
Nice job - if I started having time to do that, folks would tell me to get a woman, but dont do it!
He's serious I think. You are arent you? :) kidding aside, I too have noticed the pattern, esp on the front of your pistol grip.

I was being %110 sarcastic.
When I posted that I was in the middle of a looooong day. My apologies. In all seriousness I did that exact pattern to my Sig 220 grips and it took forever, so I can appreciate the amount of time you probably spent on your parts. And the pattern defiantly improves grip.
I would like to play around with different soldering iron end/tips for different patterns and try that on a pistol frame. I just don't have the balls yet.
Good luck.

Do it I dare you! Lol
Thanks for the encouragement guys and serpico, it's all good man
How much more grippy is it?
L3mon,
Your work looks promising. It seems like you are trying to follow a specific pattern but are coming up with some dead space between the stippling. Is this by design? Also, are you doing any type of finishing afterwards like sanding?
I think you have some real potential with this but just need a little more work.
Good luck.

Tons! I was uber hesitant at first but I'm considering giving my g17 a make-over now, and dozer, thanks man means a lot and I'm prettyuch just doing it really and I only trim the little tails that stick up off mo sanding, to me it detracts from the grippy-ness
looks good to me. desirable, in fact- i hate the way most stippling destroys everything it touches. i've been using textured spray paint to add some grippiness, but doing a larger stipple never occurred to me for some reason. i bet its just about perfect.
It is very comfortable first ones free for mods!

I also do stipple work but for my tastes I really don't care for the more common dimples but it is a good place to start. Stippling adds a very good texture for grip which makes it highly practical besides adding a personalized custom touch.
I do variations and different textures from mild to aggressive grip. Practice can be done on pmags, AR grips (that are often replaced), anything poly. I actually prefer the flat iron blade and many guys make or rather shape their own iron heads.
Besides the basic golf ball dimple I have a few patterns that I commonly do for people. Here are a few from mild to aggressive grip texture. I also do a few others that are not pictured such as a rice grain and one that looks similar to snake skin.

now that is something more unique, I like it
A FFL or you are opening yourself up to a world of hurt if you start taking serialized frames without one. I won't even get into the insurance side of things.
Well for pistol frames and other serialized items I was gonna keep that local or cut it out all together
