Hi, I was reading the sticky about 1-4 Variable Optic scopes and like the idea of the SB Short Dot and how it can go to true 1x, but I cannot afford it. Has anyone used the Burris 1-4x24 with the illuminated retical, and what do you think of it? It is still $500 so I dont want to end up with garbage when I could have bought an Aimpoint instead and just given up the variable power. I like the variable power because I like to shoot out to 200 yards for fun.

BTW, I am a computer guy and do not use my weapons in my job or anything other than HD. I would like to take some carbine classes in the future and also compete in 3 gun so I am really trying to figure out the best optic to get for my situation.

Thanks for any advice.

Frank

Don't have it but researched it. At 17 oz I ruled it out as too heavy. That's one thing just about everyone here ignores: weight add ups. A 9 lb plus AR-15 is outta there for me. I'm looking at the Leupold 1.5x5 Illuminated or even the LEU54105 as a choice.
