I purchased a Ruger SR556C 3 weeks ago. Since then I have joined this site and done a lot of reading. I'm fully satisfied with my weapon and have already put close to a 1000 rounds through it. Functions flawlessly and thankfully I am not seeing any tilt wear. Actually I had no clue about that potential issue until I read about it on this site. Now, here is where the problems start. Since being on this site and reading as much as I have done I have gone out and purchased a Magpul UBR stock, a Geissele trigger and an Eotech 553 weapon site. I completely blame everyone on this site for making me dispose of my hard earned cash!! If it wasn't for all of the very knowledgable people on this site I would have that money to spend elsewhere. I'm sure I would have been very satisfied with the basic weapon that I originally had. NOT!!

I ordered the UBR and trigger this morning. Can't wait to get them in and on my weapon. Then it will be time to put some more rounds down range.

Great site and a ton of great info here!!

In the long run, only good will come of knowing the truth as long as you choose to accept it.

If you have money you want to burn, you'll find a way to burn it without this forum's help.

There are plenty of us on here that you should blame for your next massive ammo purchase though! Cause we'll tell you to save your money, buy ammo, and shoot the heck out of your gun!

No kidding...

I started with a Bushmaster and no optic, and ended with this:

And now I've got paperwork sitting at the ATF for two AAC suppressors...

That is a nice problem to have.

Nice pic.

Great looking weapon! I just bought another 500 rds of ammunition. Once I get finished outfitting this weapon I'm sure my next plan will to look into another upper from somewhere. That will be a good bit down the road though. Fall is coming up and I also run field trials with my lab. Starting the end of September until the end of January I'll either be running a trial or duck/goose hunting most weekends.

It's pretty ridiculous how much time I spend on this site. It sure helps pass the time though. Plus, I've learned a LOT. I'm officially the "gun nut" in my circle of friends. M4C.net to blame. ;)

The guy who owns my local gun store that I buy most of my stuff at has been asking me questions lately. I think I need to get out more...

Started out with a Mutt 20", traded that for a jeep and swore off the platform forever and bought a bunch of AK stuff...

FFwd 2.5 years and I'm rocking a DD M4 and all the go-fast gear. This site has helped me in getting the right kit with no-B.S. opinions.

I still love my AK, though.

I, as well, have ended up spending cash since I started frequenting this site a few months ago. Now I have new Noveske Rogue Hunter coming to replace the Bushmaster I have. Already looking at the next quality build...Doh! :D

Here is more trouble then... look into this buffer to 100% eliminate any doubt of carrier tilt.

Since joining this forum, I have upgraded my weaponry considerably and I figure I've actually saved money doing it. :D Only a rich guy can afford to buy it twice and thanks to Grant (http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?display=home ) and Paul (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/ ) I haven't had to.

Welcome to the forum, some fine people meet here regularly. :)

At least she's not pissed at you over some porn site. :nono:

I am sure my GF would rather I spend this much time on porn. Porn is FREE, this stuff costs a lot of money lol.

I went from being a recreational pilot, to being a pilot and drag racing, to being a flying, racing, guy who also does photogrpahy, to being a flying, racing, photogropher who likes to shoot.

Why cound't I pick up cheap hobbies? My cousin sits no his ass and does NOTHING! He is married and just bought a house, I have a GF and a condo lol. But then again, his wife is a b*tch and he is miserable, and my GF loves to go to the range with me. So Im okay with it.

Flying, racing, photographing and shooting makes me happy, so I am okay with spending lots of money on it. At least I don't do Coke...

I know what you mean Alex,

I started duck hunting 8 yrs ago and then ended up getting a lab and then paying for professional training and then entering in and running field trials and now starting over with another pup. I also scuba dive, have a boat, and hunt basically from Sept. til mid May all of that on top shooting as much as I can.

Thankfully the wife shoots with me quite a bit and my kids love to hunt. When I'm running field trials I often take one of my 2 kids with me. My wife gets a good bit of quiet time on the weekends during the fall so she doesn't mind too much.

My friend wants me to start hunting with him... but in NJ that means I have to either buy a shotgun or a bow, if he wants to go to PA I have to buy a bolt gun... eeh. Another friend wants me to start golfing with him... Not going to make it any cheaper lol

but in the past month I've picked up:

- Colt 6940 (I'll leave this as stock, really nice shooting rifle, extremely accurate out of the box with factory sights)

- Eotech XPS-2 with LT-110 QD mount package from Larue Tactical (smooth ordering process, fast shipping)

- Streamlight TRL-1s (fast, free shipping from Optics Planet)

- Vickers Blue Force AA sling (from Bravo Co.)

- another 1000 rounds of ammo

- BCM 16" mid-length upper w/12" rail, BCM charging handle and complete BCG and Magpul back-ups (great service on this purchase, very quick turnaround) this will be the gun with the all the accessories

- this weekend, be ordering a BCM lower

- Magpul CTR for the BCM lower (also from Larue)

Once I get the lower, I'm hoping it will tide me over...for a little while anyway. Then just keep ordering ammo and shooting...then go to a class or two.

The past week, I've got (3) 12.5 uppers, (2) T1's and Larue mounts,(1) Aimpoint M4s, (1) X300. Still need to get a BCM bcg, (2) mod 4's, and (2) Battle Comps, Gear sector mounts, Elzetta light, Kac 200 micro, Larue buis, and (2) Troy fronts.

Yikes.

Now I need to start working on another sbr lower.

My Geiselle SSA trigger just came in. Come lunchtime I'm going to run home real quick and install it. Looks pretty straight forward. I'll be giving it a good work out this weekend. I plan on putting at least a couple of hundred rounds down range.

Blow would be cheaper than outfitting a new rifle...at least you have something to show for it with the rifle though, instead of a headache and a nosebleed:D

I hit the jackpot today. Not only was I able to install the Geiselle SSA trigger I got but my UBR stock came in early afternoon and I was able to install that also. Now the only thing i am waiting on is the Eotech 553 to come in so I can finish off this weapon. I really love the UBR stock. It's a million time better than the standard M$ collapsable stock that was on the weapon.

MTechnik

I love my UBR stock... and this place (and my lurking here for a while) is responsible for me getting a 1-4x accupoint, adm mount, cat-tail... and am considering a new BCM upper to move the eotech over to for HD, and making the current upper a 3-gun upper, which will involve more spending... Hell, new uppers are cheaper than new optics now, and that has me buying more.

Hell, strip clubs may be cheaper some weeks.

LOL, this site can certainly lead down the road to trouble. While I don’t have deep pockets, I am learning to buy once and cry once.

The issue for me has always been that I buy something that I think is neat then I see something that’s just a bit neater. So I end up selling the 1st item only to end up being not really happy with the 2nd item. With the wealth of real world knowledge here it has been easier to make my purchasing decisions based on facts with the end result of me being happier with the gear that I have bought.

That's the thing that drew me here, was the wealth of knowledge from people that are using the stuff in the right ways (and found out what happens if you use it the wrong way), rather than just sitting in a chair and postulating.

I feel I'll spend more initially, but not re-buy as my skills, abilities and what I ask of the tools grows, again, thanks to knowledge gained here..

Now soon I need to visit the regional competition forums and find some action in my area to try and learn exactly how bad I am.

Sadly, the most efficient way to quarantine those stricken with BRD is to surround them with shiny black toys, distract them with shiny optics, and lock them up in ammo castles.
