I was in the mood for another rifle.

Cruising through Gunbroker, LMT specifically, I purchased an LMT CQB MRP "gas" 16" rifle with SOPMOD stock. Payed it for 5 minutes after I hit the "Buy Now" button. Should be shipped today or tomorrow to my FFL.

I just love LMT stuff.

Pics later after the rifle is in my hands. Did I say I love LMT stuff ? :)

You will not regret one single cent of that purchase and you just unlocked a universe that will take years for you to discover all its potential. Nothing even close to the MRP platform imho, and congrats on making such a wise decision you will enjoy it literally more and more you learn about it.

The_accuser is an OG MRP'r....who truly utilizes the overwhelming potential that these have over anything else that exists.....he has posted above one the sexiest shorties under the sun, running suppressed application in both short and non nfa configs, a beautifully well balanced carbine with dimples that is such a nice touch.....and he has not posted nearly close to all of diff. configs that Ive seen of his. He has long range capabilities or did with some awesome precision type configs. using the stretch chassis.

I want that 10.5" D.I. shorty unreal bad....it has to handle like a ferrari.....and I have seen some Italian dude and SMGlee go straight f/a til they were smoking profusely...all without a hiccup.

:D Oh you must mean this rig...LOL Actually, I just gave this one to one of my sister's who graduated from Med school....I'm such a nice brother. The 10.5" is so freakin' awesome. I tell you, the 16" with dimples balances out really well. I sent the barrel to ADCO to have it contoured under the hand guard and dimpled up front...get reduction in weight. I need to take a few pics with the 12.5" 6.8 caliber barrel...I haven't fired that one yet.

If I was going to take the LMT plunge, would you all recommend the 16'' chrome lined with the rifle gas system? Is there any known issues with this system?

I've been debating on if I want to add a 14.5" rifle length MRP to the family.

They really are slick tech compared to your typical railed AR15.

Sorta like this build

Duffy's 14.5" is one of the finest and the fact that it is one of the earliest models I know about...most likely made in Oct/Dec 04' and he still hasn't bent a rail:D or any other problems....makes it pretty clear how unbreakable the design and materials are in em.

The last thing I would ever get rid of is a stretch MRP.....I am just as bonkers today over them as I was when I first saw them....I will admit freely, its a flat out love affair:)

I have a couple of 16" DI barrels and all work great...you shouldn't have any worries.

variablebinary, that 12.5" piston SBR setup is the bomb....hopefully Santa will bring me the 12.5" piston kit for Christmas...:D

That's funny that our sister's just got out of med school TRIDENT82. My sister is a Perfusionist (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfusionist). I actually have younger sisters...bless my Dad...LOL Lucky for him all of them love to shoot. The sister that just graduated Med school was so happy to be landing a job in a gun friendly state...LOL

I am now down to just this one CQB MRP chassis. With selling the spare rifle MRP chassis I am going to get a factory LMT 10.5" SBR. Once I get it approved I will switch out the Noveske lower for the LMT one so my SBR MRP is nearly 100% LMT.

Some nice looking rifles in this thread I started.

It's been shipped to my FFL. Hopefully will have it in my hands by Saturday or Monday at the latest.

Now, just what optics do I want on this wonderful firearm ? I'm going to run the Aimpoint with 3X Magnifier both on larue mounts with a Troy rear folding BUIS. I like the A2 style sight that comes with the rifle for up front.

Keep the photos coming !!

I picked up an LMT gas CQB MRP. On the left side of the upper, there is some rather sloppy engraving ( not a roll mark). I don't have the gun close by and don't remember exactly what is reads. Anyone else have this on their LMT? It does not affect the performace of the weapon; it just looks a little shoddy.

I have never heard of that nor have I seen it.....post some pics, get ya answer a ton quicker:) LMT actually ponied up and has an in house Laser Engraver(Big Bucks) that does all the t marks and the slanted LMT logos on the left side of non mrp upper receivers...on the MRPs the "Lewis Machine & Tool"..."Patent Pending" are Laser Engraved but besides this and the t marks....nothing else should be present.

If you check out badness on the other site you will see quite a few of the more seasoned MRPrs with a 3x and either t-1 m4s. I hope to eventually pick up the 3x mag. esp. once the shorty has come on board.

Bottom line you already understand and planning to use one of the MRPs biggest assets, which is the true mono-rail for mounting optics where ever the hell you feel like, If I did not like glass and optics so much,(and accuracy) then MRPs might not have interested me. If you got the cheese put a baby NXS 1-4x on it and game over imho, that would be a winner:)

I have thought many times that I was gonna keep a mrp in a certain config only to wake the next day in a diff. mood.....and change its llil outfit to best fit my attitude towards the day:cool:

Ive found the best way to work with mrps is from the ground up and build component by component with the only thing set in stone the chassis of the mrp. Its much more dynamic and has endless possibilities that way.

Today this one got some stipling but I still playing with it.

Just got back about an hour ago from my dealers house.

It's alway's nice to open the package that has been sent to find an unopened LMT box marked "CQB16"

On top of that the rifle was still in the factory original plastic bag. ;)

Untouched by noodlers hands. 3 rail panels, torque wrench, sling, one 30 LMT marked mag, etc.

Lot's of that dry lube on the stock extension. LOL.

I'm now in the process of stippling my black PMAG's with a wood burner. TTYL guy's.

It will have been thoroughly test fired, don't be surprised if it doesn't come to you white glove clean.

edit: sorry, didn't realize this ain't your first rodeo with LMT. enjoy your MRP goodness. I'm still figuring out how to justify one for myself.

Trident is right on re: my old MRP, it was bought from Chen (SMGLee) in 2004, right around the SAR show in AZ :D

My MRP keeps getting the latest updates in sights and accessories. The latest update: Battle Comp 2.0 (replacing the heavy AAC brake), PEQ15 (replacing the PEQ-2A), 45 degree selector (our own :sarcastic:, replacing a prototype 90 degree selector)), ACOG TA31ECOS (replacing the TA31DOC), Bobro ACOG mount (replacing the LaRue mount)

A crappy pic. You can tell which parts had been newly installed, they don't have paint on them yet :)
