Late last year Smith ran a 40% off MSRP for the military. I had placed an order for a 442 Pro Series after Christmas and they were finally made end of June. I wasn't in a rush to recieve it as I was still down range til 1 Jul then home for 2 weeks leave. I do believe this was the first run of the guns according to Helen Piquette at Smith.

The 442/642 Pro Series is cut for TK Custom 5 round moonclips. You can also load round singlely, speedstrips or with speedloaders. Gun also does not have the ILS and is rated for +P. Frame is marked 442-1 and only weights 15 ozs.

I picked up the gun a two days before my leave was up and fired it in the backyard informally. No issues after 30 rds with loose rounds or moonclips. The moonclip is a pain to load the last round and demooning the first due to slack taken out of the clip. I carried it around the house with the first round up with a shotshell followed by Federal 125 Nyclads +Ps. (got copperheads in the woods behind the house). Looking forward to playing with it again come December.

Very nice looking 442. I'm really thinking about pulling the trigger on another one as it fits certain rolls very well. Not my ideal carry gun but its much better than fingernails and knuckles. I carry mine to the gym or use it when clothing will not allow IWB or I'm trying to be as "gray" as possible. Hopefully they will think about another special run.

These are supposed to be a reguler production item.

They are a standard item (have two of them in stock). ;)
