View Full Version : Any interest in a "Home Defense" class??

I am thinking about putting together a "home defense" class at Ft. Harmar's new shoot house down in Marietta, OH. For pics of their new house, follow this link: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=53561&highlight=harmar

Cost would $50 per person and there would only be 10 slots open. It would be an all day event (10-5). Myself and Sgt. Watson of the Tusc. County SO (Head Firearms Instructor) would be teaching it.

What would be covered:

-Single man defensive clears (bulk of the time will be spent on this)
-Two man offensive clears (if time permits and everyone looks safe)
-Tactics, angles and proper ways to navigate doorways and hallways
-Verbal commands (two man)
-IDing the threat

We will provide soft body armor for those that do not have it (must be worn in the shoothouse at all times).

Pistol's and or pistol caliber AR's are the only things allowed in the house.

Please post in this thread if you are interested. If we have enough people, we will start to look at dates in August and or Sept..

Some e-mails have come in about weapon choices. Personally, I would not worry about bringing and or using a long gun. Use your daily CCW carry pistol or the one that you would grab for investigating strange sounds in your home.

Hard to say for sure, but will be on the low side. Most likely well under 300rds.

Nope. Standard 9mm/40/45 BALL ammo is just fine.

I would like to bring my wife as well. Even if she doesnt shoot or do the one man clears she could participate in the team stuff and work on communication with me. Id be willing to pay for spots for me, her, and my son if at all possible. They have both participated in tactics classes with me before, and my wife has a small amount of training.

I'll just run my handgun if it makes things easier, but this year Ive been doing the work to move to the carbine for HD.

looks like you wont have a problem getting 10 :)

We will most likely do limited two man stuff, but they are welcome to come and watch.

Just as an FYI, the class is ONLY open to people that live in OH/WV and PA.

If you live in a different State, there will be classes offered for you at a later date.

The dork running the Cx4 would like in once slots become generally available. If it's anything like the training we've been getting at Tusco, $50 is a helluva deal.

What gives, did I miss something? How did we go from everyone waiting on a firm date to an AAR?
