I can't think of anything better on an AR than an AK grip! Anyone else have one yet? I might upgrade all my AR's to Battle Ax grips.

I can't think of anything worse than an AK grip on an AR. But to each his own. Let us know how you like it.

With my monkey mitts the last thing I need is a smaller pistol grip.

The MIAD with large backstrap is just about as perfect a grip for me as I have ever tried.

While I generally like most Troy Ind products I have not been impressed enough with the design of any of their polymer items to feel the need to give them a try.

They are certainly of a different design than many others on the market and I hope for them fit a niche. I wish them the best, but again won't be trying their stock or grip on my rifles anytime soon.

Let us know what you think though once you put it through its paces. I've yet to see anyone running one.

I, for one, have small hands.

Sorry, folks, but little grips suck big canal water! I totally agree on the MIAD with large
back strap. I even add a length of bike inner tube over the whole thing for better grip
and to make it just a smidge bigger too.

Most people over-size their grips the same way they over-size their shoes, I guess based on the same kind of faulty big-paw=big-penis logic. I watch people all the time that put the largest parts on their MIAD and then can't reach the controls. Pure genius.

I want one of the new Troys for a woman/kid gun. Looking forward to it.

I'm interested in this, since I've got small girly-man hands. Tried the MagPul grips, and while they're nice, they're not right for me. Maybe this will work :)

I think this would be a perfect role for this particular grip.

I can't comment on the big shoes equaling big other parts of one's anatomy, but do know that not everyone is big or small, tall or short, etc. and that this grip will undoubtedly work for someone.

That being said, I can understand the desire for a grip with smaller circumference, but I don't understand the perceived need for a shorter pistol grip, but like I said I have big hands so maybe I'm missing something.

I agree! The first time I saw that I was like...... what the F@$k were they thinking. Hopefully it is beautiful on the inside and has a great personality.

I really hope it works better than it looks. Troy usually makes decent stuff.

I hate to bash something based on looks but damn!

That there are a few of us in the world today that a MIAD with full back strap will actually fit our hands. It's amazing I know, but even the horrid GLOCK "hump" and finger groves actually fit as well!

The Troy grip really does resemble an Eastern bloc AK grip. Having five AKs myself I've tossed all those grips for the Hogue grip as it fits me like the proverbial glove.

I want one for the wife's carbine as well....wish they made them in
foliage but an OD one will do....

All AIM has is "black" what kinda color is that for blending into the wild gucci?

I got nephew in Recon who might like that ...looks like you could smash
some bad person in the face with it and make quite an impression...
use it for a canoe paddle and hide a claymore mine in it...or maybe
a Wendy's double cheese

while I haven't used the Troy stock, I certainly do like what I see. A lot of storage space, very solid cheekweld, and it appears to be solid as a tank in terms of durability.

i love the new stock, played with it for a hour at SHOT, excited about that one. The grip is suppose to give you a high hand grip, its works well for that, but i would like a little more texture on it

Might make a good stock for an IAR or DMR type setup.

With a name like moose-knuckle? No way!? I imagine you have baseball mits for hands! ;)

People come in all shapes in sizes. For me, the MOE is just right, I'd never reach the fire controls with a MIAD with a full backstrap. I run my 1911 with thin GI grips and I prefer a 2nd gen Glock for the smaller grip and no finger grooves. I also wear gloves too so I like stubby grips. All a matter of preference. To me, Eastern block AK grips are perfect for me in height and diameter....I am Asian after all.

Its funny to me that you brought that up. The last time I was shooting I was thinking that it would be nice for my meat hooks to have the larger Back strap on the Miads. So today when I got #3 I tried it out and its almost PERFECT instead of feeling like the trigger wants to rest in my second joint its almost right on the first pad. But I am 6ft5 with the hands of a Monkey.

Probably store an extra 20 rounder in it, eh? Will take some getting used to before it doesn't look odd. The Troy site says it has a metal baseplate, which sounds good.
With that top channel for the buffer spring, you could swap buffers without opening up the receivers, though not sure why you'd want to.

Is this basically an "improved" A1 grip? I can't see how this would add anything to a what can be a $3 surplus part.

I was thinking a Baconator from Wendy's. But, a double cheese would work if it's not a participating franchise.

This is just like holding a kiddie fork where a grip should be.

I'll never trust a buttstock where the butt of it is hinged in any way. Last thing I need is that shit shifting around while I'm shooting, rattling, or breaking off while doing some basic mortaring.

As for the grip, it's the wrong way to go for me too, as having a MIAD as big as it gets still isn't as big as I'd really like, but it's a damn sight better than any alternative I've tried (and before anyone points it out, no I haven't tried the Stark grip, but I want to).

I also wear size 14EEEEEE shoes, and those are barely big enough.

Got mine in. This thing is TINY. Will be interesting to mount it up. Compared to a MOE.

Interesting, I like the thin profile but it looks like it would be far to short for me. The MOE is too short for me. As it is, I am still a big fan of te tango down battle grip.

ChicagoTex,

You may want to try out the Stark Equipment SE-1 grip if the MIAD is small for you. It is ugly as hell, but I have not found a grip on any rifle/weapon system that I like more.

The stock reminds me of those Guppy planes...
