I see red dots from Burris, ATN, Bushnell etc for anywhere from 100-300 for red dots. Overall, I really just want a good red dot sight that wont cost me a bundle but will be reliable enough to work. Like this Bushnell from cabelas:

http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20712-cat320001_TGP&id=0065994713198a&navCount=1&podId=0065994&parentId=cat320001&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=QL&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true

Any advice or recommendations?

When it comes to cheap red dots for carbines that won't be seeing any "serious" work, I'm a fan of Primary Arms. I have one of their Microdots, and it's worked out well for me so far. It's not as bright as my Aimpoint and the battery life isn't all the great, but they're fine for the price point.

The Primary Arms sights are similar to the other clones from Bushnell, SIG, etc. however they're priced lower.

Here's a thread on them: https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=44008

Older model Eotech, or Aimpoint M2

Dont put a chinese airsoft optic on a gun that shoots real bullets.

Hey, bro. There are multiple other "I'm in need of a good cheap optic" threads. Do a search. The best thing to do is save an extra month or two. You will be much more satisfied with the real deal.

Take a look at the Aimpoint C3 as well.

On the money lethal. Scroll to the top of the page and use the new Google search tab between the calender and FAQ tabs. Best of luck.

The problem with the Bushnell is the lack of mounting options for it. It doesn't have a removable base, so all you can do is add a riser(s) to achieve the desired co-witness. Apparently two YHM mini-risers work for a lower 1/3. That is a great deal from Cabelas, I just picked on up from them last week for my Ruger MKIII, it's not a bad little optic for that price.

As for the Primary Arms micro dot, the optic itself seems decent for the price, but the riser they offer is crap IMO, not only does the QD feel very cheap, but it places the optic too high where you can barely get a co-witness with he irons. Also the led sticks up inside the lower part of the sight cavity further hindering the co-witness capabilities.

I ordered my Insight MRDS from Cheaper than dirt.
http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/60720-34.html

It now lists it as $386, but I swear I paid around $330 a couple weeks ago. Still, the best price I've seen for one. They typically run $400 - $500+.

I picked up both my H-1's 2nd hand for $425 each delivered.

See plenty of ML3's 4MOA for under $400 on forums too.

That's not much of a stretch past your $300 point and not nearly into the mid and upper $500~$600 range.

Save a little and check the EE for older M2s, C3s, and random deals. I would shy away from older EoTechs. Sometimes really nice optics show up at really low prices. I would definately prefer a used quality optic (we're used to it in the mil) over a questionable optic. Ultimately, it's your money and your life, I have no idea how highly you value either.
