I spoke to a sales rep at sportsmans warehouse the other day about trying to get the most out of my xm15. I told him I was using .223 brass, mostly winchester and hornady, hornady match bthp match bullets and hogdgon benchmark as well as accurate 2230 powder with remington 7 1/2 small rifle primers. He suggested I try 5.56 brass as it was designed for the AR and will result in better accuracy. Is there any truth to this? If I use 5.56 brass, does it need to be trimmed differently? All the reloading data I have is for .223, I know they are similar, but should I be looking for 5.56 specific information? Different case trim lengths? Different overall lengths?
I'm just curious because I want to be loading the best rounds I am capable of loading.
Thanks!
Jon
