I am brand new to the light issue and have a newby question.
Please forgive my lack of knowledge.
For the cost and weight, is this the mount to keep the light close
to the rail if I mount it on the top rail of my quad forearm?
I want to have the light's head be just beside the FSB.
I suppose from what I hae searched and read that this
would be considered the 11 oclock position.
Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated and considered.

I dunno about "THE" mount (is there such a thing?), but I have found the VTAC to be a functional and affordable solution for my needs.

I am leaning toward that mount if all goes well.
Any other thoughts would be great.

I ran one on a rifle with a carbine length rail with FSB like you are planning and it works as you describe. I went with a longer rail and still use the same mount but it is now at the end of a 12" rail.

Thanks to all of you.
I will post pics when I get it and get it mounted.

i just got two of these mounts and tinkered with it for the best position. When on my AR15 I have it mounted on the bottom rail wall the way at the end of the rail (DD 12.0 Lite), offsetted to the left. I use a magpul AFG and I found a position where I just have to move my knuckle forward to hit the switch without breaking grip on the AFG.

when mounted on my ACR its on the right side of the handguard offsetted down. When holding the ACR with an AFG I have to release my middle finger from the AFG grip to hit the switch. Little harder than the AR setup but it works. I plan to do a low light AR class thats offered here using these when the weather is less sucky and muggy.

Fits my Fenix TK10s fine (~1" tube), I'll try to get pics sometime.
