A friend of mine from Illinois called me and asked if I ever heard about a sigma AR. He has a chance to buy one at around $500 and wanted to know if I knew anything about them. I told him that I heard the name but that was all. I would appreciate any info, good or bad on them. I tried the search and didn't find anything.
Thank You.

$500 for the complete rifle?
I guarantee you it's utter crap. If he's lucky it'll be as "good" as DPMS.
The cheapest combat quality AR (bought as a complete rifle) going right now is the Daniel Defense XV, and that runs around $1100. If you order the upper and lower seperately you can shave around $100 on that, if you're willing to build your own lower you can shave maybe another $60.
If you're willing to compromise on barrel steel (and therefore barrel life) and twist rate (1/9 in most cases instead of 1/7) you can step down to an S&W or Stag for around $900 and still be relatively okay.
Any lower and you're just pissing your money away IMO.
