I just bought a new Beretta 92FS from my boss for a killer deal. Only problme is it came with a ban era 10 rounder.

Who, besides beretta, makes a good reliable magazine?

MDS, Mec-Gar, and newer Check-mate mags in that order. :)

Taurus mags works good in Beretta.

Unless Tarus has changed their magazine in the last few years, they will not work in a Beretta. The cutout in the magazine body that engages the mag release is too narrow to work in a Beretta. I have seen aftermarket magazines that are designed to work in both, but these have been low quality (circle K I recall) magazines that I would not recommend.

As stated, Beretta OEM/MDS (same company), MecGar, and the newer GI contract magazines are all good to go. Beretta makes a special enhanced reliability magazine that has a dry film finish and groves to make them supposedly more reliable in sandy environments. Mec-Gar makes some increased capacity magazines that will give you more than 15 rounds. Both would be worth looking into if you are about to deploy. I have seen new MDS magazines in Houston for about $25. The enhanced reliability magazines are more I know, but if I was about to go to the "bad place," I would probably spend the extra coin.

If you are looking for a cheep range magazine, then the older GI contract magazines work OK - but whatever you do, stay away from them for any serious work (especially in a sandy environment).

Check-Mate dry film magazines with a roll-mark date stamp of 2/04 or later; MDS (a Beretta subsidiary); Beretta.

CDNN Sales in Abilene, TX usually has good pricing on Beretta OEM mags (which are usually made by Mec-Gar).

Air-tronic is the current USGI supplier, and they are very good magazines in my experience.

Check out CDNN for a variety of mags and prices. Buy only Beretta, MDS or mec-gar. I just got a smokin' deal at my local GT distributors, LEO academy trade ins, Beretta made, 15 round for $8/each. Used but good condition.

I use only Beretta factory mags and Mec-Gar. Both have been excellent.

As Cobra66 wrote, Beretta & MDS are the same (except for the markings).

Thanks guys. I can get Mec Gar locally, just wanted to double check and see if they were a good company.

Curious how an otherwise identical mag goes up in price when they mark "Beretta" on it instead of "MDS".

AND, for the icing on the cake, the MDS ones have the metal basepads, like the older Beretta-rollmarked magazines-so you're not only getting a less expensive magazine, you're getting one that in my opinion is superior to its more expensive sibling.

If you're doing any kind of training, competition, etc, CDNN is having a special on the Beretta factory 'Elite' 15-round mags with the thick rubber basepads for $20 each. They're not all that good for carry, due to the bulk, but they rock for repeated drops on concrete or gravel.

Actually the last MDS magazines I bought now have the hard plastic basepads.

Good to know-thanks for the update, 556A2-anyhow, out of all of them, I much prefer the dry-film Check-Mates with their hardened steel baseplates, and I think that they're among the least expensive as well.

Another vote for Mecgar.
