He was asking to be shot. I like how the were drinking Cokes in front of him. I bet they were saying feeling thirsty in Chinese. I guess Chinese BGs aren't smart enough to know not to stand out in the open with their hostage. You also need to watch the officers as they close the distance and definitely watch as they reach in their waistband. You just knew what the outcome was going to be as the LEOs got closer. I would have gone with a sniper though. He had way to many openings.

Initial response: Impressive.

Misdirection to distract the suspect, timing the shot (watch susp. instead of cop), draw from concealment, shooting on the move, continuing to engage the threat (weak Chinese pistol caliber?)

Dennis.

Snipers take time to set up. Sometimes you just go ahead and fix the problem.

I figure they had time to go buy water and Coke, then they had time to place one sharpshooter. But I like the undercover's tactics. She most definitely got the job done.

I have seen a couple videos like this from other countries with the close range pistol shot hostage rescues. I wonder if it is cultural or related to legal or law enforcement doctrine that sharpshooters aren't used? Accurate rifles and shooters are certainly more expensive than a contact distance pistol shot... is that why?

I imagine you can go buy a coke and water a lot faster than you can have a sniper snuck in, find a spot for a good hide with an ideal field of view across the street without being noticed.

Got the job done but I think the last round in the back at 1:14 might have been a bit much. Then again I'm guessing in China she could have emptied the magazine into the guy with no recourse.

Then they send the bill to the guy's surviving relatives.

I was honestly expecting a point blank shot to the back of the head... so the shot in the back once the guy is down was a welcomed sign.

It is China after all...

The Chinese are using 9mm more and more now days. Especially for their domestic police. Pretty much any pistol made in China after the late 1980s is 9mm. They do have the bottle necked 5.8mm for special missions that may require body armor penetration, but any 9mm can be converted to the 5.8 with a barrel swap.

Simply OUTSTANDING work !

Completely anticipated by her IMO.

Notice diversion she creates w/ tossing her bag/purse w/ right arm slightly offline to left side of center line, waits for PERP to gather bag/purse w/ foot, anticipates taking half step to right, slightly blades body w/ right rear foot stepping back conceals her right side and slide of hand drawing pistol from right side on back of oblique out of perp's view. Anticpates movement and takes grape shot.

Great work indeed, although I think she was closer to also shooting the hostage than she would have preferred.

But all's well that ends well. In fact she was even laughing afterward.
