We were only there a couple of days, and was glad to leave as Gatlinburg/GSMNP was PACKED. I hate crowds! I did enjoy the aquarium but I like "nature"...

Very nice pics of the fam.

Those are definatley the times you'll look back and remember good things.

How extensive was the list of sea life?? I've only been the to the nice aquarium in Newport, KY.

GRSM is a great area overall....although it can be a awful crowded during certain parts of the year. I used to work there and I miss occasional search and rescue in which I got to go off trail in the higher elevations.......beautiful country.

Great looking family. You are blessed Belmont! I've always been fascinted by marine life. Haven't been to the aquarium in TN but the one in Atlanta is very impressive.

Great pics- looks like y'all had a great time down there. I haven't been down that way since 2001- need to go back sometime.

Mostly salt water but a few tanks of fresh water stuff. They did have quite a bit though. There are 3 levels, and 3 or so hands on tanks. There is a tunnel in the main tank with a motorized walk-way that was pretty cool. The place was pretty kid friendly, too. The boys had a great time there.

Thanks for the kind words everyone...:)

God I remember that aquarium, and the hotel you are staying at (I think it was a Hilton in 2004). Fun place, but I remember trying to leave there and get back to the highway was total hell.

That area gets so packed that it can take some of the enjoyment out of it. My young'un likes that aquarium too, though, and it looks like your boys had a fine time. We live relatively close by, so we plan our trips for slower seasons.

If you want the nature of the Smokies without the crowds, head north toward the Unaka Mts. in the extreme NE of the state (around Roan Mtn). The mountains there are just as good, but there's little in the way of crowds. There's no aquariums, putt-putt, or outlet malls either, so convincing the family that it's a better place to go may take some doing. Plenty of nature to play in there though.

Neat pictures, thanks for sharing your vacation. You have a beautiful wife and a couple of good looking junior gunslingers there.

I was in the smokies weekend before last. The aquarium was fun but your right, too many people for my taste. I'm going back to the rockies next year!!!

Nice looking family. I graduated from UT and we avoided G'burg/PF like the plague; except in winter. Beautiful area.
