I went a step up but for that price and the quality of the equipment, it's a good call.

It's worth it for sure, Daniel Defense is good to go; but if you shop around a bit more I'm very sure you could find it for closer to $900.00. Or you could find a more equipped DD (such as a Version 1, 2 or 3 DDM4) for a bit more than $1,000.00.

A $1000 is about the going rate - I bought mine from Clyde Armory for $999. I've seen them online for a bit cheaper than that, but not much ($993).

You could also get a DD upper for about $700 and then build up your own lower receiver... might save you about $100.

You can get a DDM4 from them for $1179. You're basically getting a DDXV with another $450 worth of components (Omega X 12.0 FSP rail system, VFG, and Magpul MOE stock) for only $180 more.
