Hello guys. I currently run a Mayflower low vis carrier with level IV standalone plates. I am thinking about ditching those plates for soft armor but I have no experience with conceal cut soft body armor and manufacturers that make quality soft armor in conceal cut. I am looking for level IIIA protection and I was hoping someone has a say in what manufactures would be a great choice. Thank you.

Velocity Systems made IIIA soft armor with the Mayflower LowProfile cut. Excellent materials, and with the adequate plates you can combine maximum protection with a very low profile.

Quick pic, the straps are not correctly adjusted, but you can see how IIIA + PBZ plates make almost no bulk.

That's pretty low profile! I also have a question about twaron. Does it perform less then Kevlar? The reason I am asking this is because on greygroup the twaron conceal cuts are only $350.

Don't know, but I am pretty confident with Velocity Systems products. Level IV stand-alone plates in swimmer cut are comming for some testing, and the price is incredible low.

If it's NIJ certified then it works for me, if it's lighter and thinner, even better. That's why I'm using PBZ plates, it protects against API 7.62x39 and with an open shirt is almost not noticiable.

Velocity is starting to sounds really good right now. Especially with the price to protection ratio. I may just have to give it a try!

Twaron is fine. A P-Aramid like Kevlar, which is a trademark. Twaron is a trademark name.

That low price point is making me nervous...

Call or email them, they already have a Q&A section about body armor and probably will be happy of helping you

Check their website, plenty of information about VelSys' products.

Custom Armor Technologies (CAT), who is Diamondback Tactical, makes what I would consider to be the best soft armor in the business. CAT's QVA-3A is the only soft armor that passes the FBI body armor protocols which are more stringent than the NIJ standard. Currently the FBI and ATF both procure their body armor through CAT.

The QVA-3A is a bit thicker than some other armor but the protection level is excellent. It's also not cheap.

That said, I have no idea how well it will mate with Mayflower's carrier.

Just one more option to consider.
