View Full Version : Cross bolt safety mold crease on Gen 4 G19
I'm not sure if all recent production G19s have this, but I noticed a faint mold crease for the Glock cross bolt safety on my 4th Gen G19 tonight. It's just above the mag release on both sides.

Not sure what you are talking about- any possibility of a picture or two?
Nothing obvious on my Gen4 G19...

I too am curious as to what you mean and would like to see a photo. The only "safety" in the frame is the drop safety which is nowhere near where you are describing it. Glock does not use "cross bolt safety" in any of their terminology, unless the Gen 4 has something new since I've been to armorer class. The firing pin safety is in the slide and the trigger safety is well, on the trigger.
What are you trying to describe?

Glock has shown prototype guns in the past that had what can only be described as a "cross-bolt safety". ie, a push-button just above the magazine release that would fall under the upper trigger finger for deactivation. I'll see if I can find pictures.
Here's one: (much as I hate to reference the firearms blog)

That's exactly where the raised edge in the molding is on both sides.
I noticed the same thing on the new 26 that I bought a few months ago. It's less noticeable on the right side, but still there.
I was curious as to what it was, but I knew it was of no real significance. Little things like that bug me, but I notice everything. :D
Here's a quick pic (not the best picture, but you get the idea):

This is just a guess (and that's really all it is), but I suspect that Glock may have made preparatory provisions in the mold dies for the possible inclusion of a manual safety if mandated by a significant potential ordering organization/trial, such as the currently moribund .45 ACP trial, which Glock was very seriously interested in participating in and winning.
Best, Jon

After reading in this thread, my guess was similar to yours.

Any marks inside the frame?
Any marks inside the frame?
None that I can see.
Not to intentionally resurrect an old thread but this may explain the mold marks.

https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?t=135874There was an link to earlier article sighting the British battle rifle using a similar safety, and Glocks placement might have been with that in mind..
I can say that the placement makes it difficult to run the pistol for anyone who plans on using a secure two-handed firing grip. It is very easy to inadvertently activate the safety button.
