Hey guys,

I picked up my first can, an AAC Element, this week, and I'm loving it.

I mailed my Form 4 on 6/11 and it was back in my dealer's hands on 8/12 - much quicker than I would have thought. I went the Trust route, and Suzanne Santamaria was the examiner.

The performance of the Element has been impressive. I'm totally happy with having selected it as my first can.

Here's some pics, and let me know if I can answer any questions...

This is a Tactical Solutions AR-22 SBX Upper. It is a 12.25" barrel, with the shroud getting it to 16" - no SBR paperwork required.

When I picked up the Element, I also got to fondle the Evo-9 and M4-2000 I still have pending at ATF. It sure was hard to leave them there.

Congrats! They look fantastic. I read that SBX barrel really muffles well without being categorized as a suppressor, does that hold any water?

Congrats, nice can. :)

I'm waiting on one now, but I am sure it will take much longer than yours did.

I'm afraid not. The SBX barrel is just that, a barrel. The neat feature is that it is only 12.25" long, but has that suppressor shroud permanently pinned to get it to the required 16" length. So, it can be purchased without the SBR paperwork.

At the end of the barrel, inside the shroud, it is threaded. So, the suppressor drops in the shroud and threads on. This way, adding the suppressor only adds minimal length to the rifle. Maybe this pic will help it make more sense - you can see the threaded end of the barrel and the pin job at the bottom of the shroud:

Aren't they a blast? I think a 9mm suppressor is next on my list.

Great can, you will love it! Great performance, easy to clean, works great on pistol or rifle.

You will really appreciate it when you go to clean it. Just drop the baffles (not tube) in the dip over night and the lead/gunk just wipes off! The leftover fluid is some nasty stuff, but it beats bead blasting all day long.

BTW - I love mine too ;)

That's a really slick looking little gun! Indoor home gun range time ;)

The Ruger Mk III 22/45 looks great. So does your SBX barrel has a suppressor or just the shroud? If just the shround, if the suppressor is attached does it require paperwork?

The SBX Barrel is just a barrel with the shroud permanately pinned in place. Although the barrel is only 12.25", there is no Short Barrel Rifle paperwork required because the shroud gets the overall length to 16".

However, you would still have to complete paperwork to purchase the suppressor, which is a totally different item all together.

So, you do not have to register the set up as a Short Barrel Rifle, but you do still have to fill out the NFA paperwork for the suppressor.
