i came across these handguards (http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/JP-VTAC-Modular-Hand-Guard-System-AR15-12-5-p/jphg-1m.htm ) by vtac and i really like them. but does anyone know if they make them in a 2 peice so i dont have to pull the fsb? Is there another company that does that are really close to these?

Thanks again for the info fellas

It is a solid tube. You have to remove the barrel to install.

That is the JP-VTAC. Also check out the newer VTAC and Troy versions - there are a couple of recent large threads on these.

Since they all take a different barrel nut, the FSB has to come off.

it's a good handguard.. i have one, i love it. sorta heavy for what you get, but that's the price of half what another 12" rail costs.

do you know of one like it but weighs less? i was hoping to keep it close to the factory hanguards weight.

I recommend the Troy/VTAC Extreme over the JP tube.
It gets warm over extended strings, but handles like a dream and is inarguably simpler to install as well as more robust.

My local shop has these and installs them 'free' with in store purchase. I like slim, and the ones I saw had a slight fluting and were very lightweight. They feel much better than pic rails all over the forearm, and I don't intend to install too many mall ninja devises.

BUT.... HOW do they handle heat? As well as Magpul? As well as Troy rails? Thanks.
