View Full Version : Thinking of a new build, looking for pics.

I was thinking of building a new carbine that is lightweight but still "tactical" enough that I can basically have all the features of my current carbine but in a much lighter package.

Here is my current carbine:
14.5 M4 profile barrel w/ carbine gas system and pinned phantom
LaRue low profile gas block
LaRue 13.2 in rail
KAC VFG
Eotech 512 mounted on the forearm rail at the back.
Hogue pistol grip
Flip up front and rear BUIS (MI brand)
BFG Vickers sling w/ QD swivel
6-pos stock
rear PRI buis

My main likings are that I have an Eotech with great eye relief that is completely unobstructed. My VFG is right below it so its very easy to point and aim. The things I really don't like are the fact that it is somewhat off balance towards the front, and it is a tad on the heavy side. I'm thinking I can get the same features but in a much more balanced and light carbine.

Here is the setup I'm looking at:
14.5" lightweight "pencil" barrel w/ pinned Phantom and carbine gas system
PRI flip front sight gas block
DD lightweight 7in FF rail
Eotech mounted on the DD rail
KAC VFG right under the eotech
Hogue grip
BFG vickers sling with rail mounted sling attachment
6 pos stock

That setup pretty much gives me everything I got at just the cost of a few inches of front sight radius. There are two things I want to know: Does anyone know the weights of the parts above on both my current and prospective builds so I can find out how much weight I'll save?

Also, does anyone have pics of a similar build to my idea?:D
