I have a Bushmaster Plain-Jane HBAR A2 (20-inch barrel), that I bought for use as a plinker, although I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet.

It'll probably spend it's life punching paper, with a backup HD role.

As opposed to carbines, what (if any) would be some recommended spare parts to keep on hand for a rifle, or would it be the same as for a carbine?

The same......spare bolt (may as well upgrade to a MP and shot peened one while you're at it), extractor, gas rings, buffer spring.

Ammo and magazines are high on the list too.......:dirol:

Although not necessarily a spare part, a broken shell extractor is always a good thing to have on hand. I'll also add a spare firing pin to the list.

If you get a spare bolt and firing pin make sure they're good to go with a headspace gauge before putting them in your backup kit.
