Florian Gallenberger directs this gripping drama about John Rabe (Ulrich Tukur), a German businessman living in Nanking, China, who in 1937 used his Nazi party affiliation to save some 200,000 Chinese civilians from slaughter at the hands of the Japanese army. As Rabe labors to establish an official safety zone to shelter the innocent, he forms an unlikely friendship with an American doctor (Steve Buscemi). Anne Consigny and Daniel Brühl co-star.

Another Tukur film that's at the top of my list up for stream.. Nordwand / North Face.

Not a big new movie guy myself, except for kid's movies that my son enjoys. But this seems like a great way to remember someone who did tremendous good and was about to slip into oblivion.

Thanks for sharing, will keep an eye out.

It really is a well done production. Rabe was very much like Shindler. Being a big Buscemi fan here, I was wondering how he could possibly fit into this picture. He played the doc well with all that sarcasm he's known for.
