hello all. i have been reading for a while, this is my first post... my question is this: the m4 flat top upper that bcm sells on their site... is it the same one used in their assembled upper groups just minus the logo or is it from a different mfg. bravo co replied to an email saying "bcm" logo is only on upper groups. just want to know if the stripped upper on their site is the same as i would get if i ordered full upper... thanks

Got a link to it? ... just to be sure...

Anyway if they say it's BCM it should be the same except for the logo. I'm sure they don't want their logo on a stripped upper because once out of their control it might be built up with substandard parts. Doubt they'd like their logo prominent on a junker!

this is the link http://www.bravocompanyusa.com/Upper-Receiver-assembly-M4-Flat-Top-p/flat%20top%20-upper%20-m4%202.htm

it doesnt have the logo. i have other bcm parts that i am building the upper with, just want to know if it is the same one that they sell with the logo. i cant tell from the description.

The logo is only added to factory builds.

truth hurts, just to be clear I wasn't referring to your build at all, just BCM's concern that their logo not be prominent on a stripped upper that then is out of their control.

Why don't you ask BCM?

I cannot say for certain, but my guess would be no.

I have bought stripped upper receivers from them as well as complete uppers.

Both look identical, have the same keyhole marks and has the same finish.

I would just respond to the email and ask for clarification. Thhey have been great in the past when I've had questions. Shoot 'em another email and ask.

i did ask, the response was the one i received from u guys about the logo only being on built uppers however when i tried to clarify i didnt get a response. i already have a bcm bcg and 16" hammer forged barrel. initially i was going to put them in a vltor vis mid xtended but have now decided on standard m4 upper with 12" dd rail. want to keep the upper group bcm, dont mind having the logo, just wanted to know if was the same. thanks for the input.

Gotcha. That wasn't clear from your first post.

I apologize for sounding like an ass with that response, so I'll try to be a little more helpful...

I just cracked open the safe and examined an m4-style flat top upper I purchased from BCM- it has the keyhole (Cerro) forge marks. My BCM upper receiver group has the square forging mark (I think this is from Brass Aluminum Forging), so apparently they were not from the same source when I purchased them. Of course, from a sample size of two, we cannot determine if BCM routinely uses different forges for their upper receiver groups.

FWIW, both have functioned flawlessly and look great.

I have four BCM factory uppers. Some are Cerro and some are Brass Aluminum Forgings.

So the answer is "probably"? :D

I'm sure the stripped uppers BCM sells are of high quality with tolerances dead on.

Guess this could drop down to something less important such as whether the finish is a perfect match to every BCM lower but even batch to batch variation changes that so no way to be sure until you match up the samples in hand.

Anyway good question. Much like the BCGs by BCM and DD that sometimes are and sometimes aren't marked prominently.

The one I got a few months back has a Cerro keyhole.
It's a nice upper receiver.

I'm bringing this back from the dead but I found one of the BCM Stripped Uppers here & I have a discount code https://bigarmory.com/bcm4-ur-m4-bcm-upper-rec-assembly-ft-m4-855877004442.html

And I am wondering, are there any finish enhancements to this upper vs something like an Aero or Anderson? For example my Anderson upper's picatinny machining is a little rough. Is the machining on the BCM Stripped Upper any smoother? Kind of how they do with certain rails, making it less sharp?

They have stripped demo/scratched for 59.95. https://www.bravocompanyusa.com/BCM-Upper-Receiver-Assembly-M4-Flat-Top-demo-p/flat%20top%20-upper%20-m4%20demo.htm

These are the only ones I use - rarely can you see a blemish or scratch.

Their forward assist is 16.95 and their ejection port cover is 8.95 for a total of 85.85.

https://www.bravocompanyusa.com/AR15-Ejection-Port-Cover-Assembly-p/ejection%20port%20cover%20assembly.htm

I find them nicely finished, no rough edges.

You can find Aero's for 79.99 here: https://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=XAPAR501603AC&name=Aero+Precision+AR15+Assembled+Upper+Receiver+-+Anodized+Black&groupid=4329

I still buy the BCM blems, and trust me, I'm not a fan boy. LOL

Either way, unless you have a heckuva promo code cheaper than what you linked to.

Good luck,

I have 2 BCM uppers, one logo marked & the other no logo. Both say BCM4 by the gas tube hole & both had to be heated with a hair dryer to install the barrels. Fit & finish were the same.

Good luck,

The blem upper for 59.99 includes the dust cover and forward assist. All is included with cost and 5.99 for shipping.

I just bought one I finished out a 7.62x39 upper on.

Worth every penny, without a doubt. Customer still has to assemble. But all is included.

I wouldn't use Anderson and BCM in the same utterance. One has an ongoing history of out of spec parts, the other is well known for high quality controls.
