Hey guys, so I just recently bought my first AR, a Daniel Defense carbine...nothing fancy. I want to buy a new handguard with some space for a foregrip/light for it and eventually an optic...came across this YHM Specter.

From what I read on other posts, YHM isnt the best FF rail, but it isnt the worst either...I'm also gathering that the Specter rail will fit on a Carbine length rifle, right? However since its a few inches longer than a Carbine length (9.7" versus 7.2"), will it just go past the forward sight? This is taken right from the YHM site:

"The Specter forearm is designed to cover the gas block on a CARBINE length gas system"

Sorry for the dumb questions, still learning all the various parts and their names...

Will I need to order any special tools with it to install it, since it is FF?

Thanks guys!

I'm sure I know what everyone will tell me when I ask this, but is the Daniel Defense Omega X 12.0 FSP Free Float Rail worth the extra $60-$70 over the YHM Specter...??

In a word.. yes

Extremely good product .. strong as hell and not as weighty or hand "over filling" as the specter.

In two words?

GET IT!

PS: I own a carbine with the specter ff tube AND a DD. The yhm sits in the guncase while I take the DD to the range with me.

Yes. I won't spend my money on Crankee Hill stuff.
