I myself was wondering the same thing, got a bolt carrier as well from the s&w and was wondering who machined this.

The gas key is staked very well so whoever on the assembly line was doing it did it right :) whoever makes the bolt though is a valid question I have too.

iirc, I've read somewhere that SW get their parts from CMT but I'm not sure and could be wrong

I called S&W in regards to when my M&P was made (May 2010). Anyway I asked the guy on the phone about parts manufacture, and he said that EVERYTHING was made in house. He did say that small pieces like springs, and pins are outsourced, but all else was done at S&W.

could have sworn I saw an MP stamp on a S&W bolt one time...

So does mine.

Mine to, my bolt looks GTG, with proper staking and good extractor. No reason to replace with a BCM, but if you wanna extra mine as well:)

The "MP" stamp on the S&W bolts means it was magnetic particle inspected, not the M&P branding.

Can I ask where did you find this MP tested logo on the BC
