Does anyone know the length a flash suppressor needs to be to bring a 14.5" to 16"?

I have used PWS 556 which is supposed to be 2.1" I dont know the length of the Smith Vortex or the YHM phantom. I just ordered a Micor Flash suppressor which is supposed to be 2" I am hoping this will meet the 16" requirement.

Can anyone help?

well as long at the flash suppressor over 1.5 inches your good to go. Just remeber your going to have to pin it to the barrel so its legal. unless the lower is registered as sbr

and then you have to explain to the partime sales guy that because it is being pinned you do not need a pistol permit. and that he is sellling the same length barrel for most of his inventory.

Vortex and Phantom both bring a 14.5" barrel to the required length when permanently attached. I and thousands of others have used them. Do a google search for flash hider comparisons. I'm absolutely sure this has been covered to death on this site and barfcom.

I know vortex, phantom, PWS FSC 556, AAC Blackout, and some others will work, but there are differences in OAL between them from what I could find measurement wise on the net. Which is why I was trying to find the exact (or closest to) OAL that a FH needed to be to meet the 16" requirement. Of the ones I know work the FSC 556 is 2.1".

My main reason for asking is my purchase of a Micor FH which is 2" Im trying to figure out if this will work...legally

beuler...anyone? I just dont want to do something illegal. I have searched and searched and cannot find an OAL requirement for a FH to put a 14.5" barrel to 16". I know it needs to add 1.5" but dont know what that means in OAL.

your flash hider is going to need to be 2.XX" to be legal. two point somethig- anything will do it. your barrel is 14.5, so you need an inch and a half AND something to get it legal, no? well taking into account a threaded area of .5, and taking into account the need to be 1.5+ inches farther than you are, looks like 2.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Smith is 2.25" long. You're good right there.

If you want a standard looking A2 birdcage, BCM makes a slightly longer FH that will bring a 14.5 inch barrel to 16.1 inches.

You will, of course, have to have it pinned and welded on to meet minimum NFA rules.

Ok can anyone tell be how Barrel length is measured so I can measure with the FH I want to use and see if it is good to go?

Found the answer on barrel length measurement I guess I'll just put the FH in question on the barrel and measure.
