Van Drew's new law would require a background check, courses in gun safety and when the use of force is lawful, demonstrate proficiency in using the particular gun he proposes to carry, and pay an annual fee of $500.

I think that NJ allow CCW is about as likely as me winning the lottery this weekend. I wish they would, but as it stands now it is just one NJ senator pushing this legislation. Still at least it is being thrown out there. Who knows, maybe one day the populace that wants the ability to carry may reach critical mass and start electing representatives who will execute their will.

Last year they also had State Bill A1384 which would give a CCW similar to most normal states, and keeping the $20 application fee. That went nowhere.

From what I understand someone puts a bill like this up every year and it never makes it out of committee.
