For the past few weeks, my wife has been dropping hints that she'd gotten me something really special for my 30th birthday. Today, I came home from a rough day at work, only to find a long rectangular box on my desk chair.
After she got home with my son, we all unwrapped the heavy, hard box from its wrapping paper. This is what was underneath:

25-year-old cask-strength Laphroaig single-malt whiskey!
I'm sipping a dram of it now, and it's excellent. All of the flavor of Laphroaig, without the paint-thinner harshness so well known to the 10-year bottling. This is a fine sipping whiskey, and one I'll jealously safeguard for at least a few years.
